What a wonderful gift the Kerry-Edwards team have handed the Bush campaign I just hope they use it well.

The lawyers in this country have no compassion for those people they fleece day to day through extortion of insurance companies. They ripoff the insurance companies and in turn the insurance companies raise the rates for auto, health care, mortgage and as a result are painted as evil.

These lawyers fleece the insurance companies and then the insurance companies take the heat for raising rates.

The latest frivolous lawsuit filed to prevent veterans from speaking their mind is a perfect opening to open this subject.

I have been disapointed in the lack of attention drawn to Edwards history of frivolous lawsuit support. He himself personally has taken in $200,000,000. in awards. That about 65 cents per american in the USA.

And that is just from one lawyer!

Edwards wealth is estimated at around $45 million. Primarily from insurance companies settlement and ultimately from those of us paying the premiums.

I am a Bush supporter and I have also sent $350. to the swift vets to help them speak their mind to the public.

If I read the article right, this action by kerry is not a lawsuit in the conventional sense, but a complaint to the Federal Elections Commission requesting that the ads be declared illegal.

Two things have to happen, the ads must be determined to be libelous and they have to prove a connection between the Swift Boat Vets group and the Bush campaign.

I doubt that either one of these conditions can be met.

I was actually referring to suits filed and or threatened against small TV stations if they ran the ads. I agree the complaint filed is without merit.

Interesting Kerry doesn't speak against those making the charge that he is a liar and a fraud. Instead he insults the veterans in a backhanded way by accusing them of being bought by the Bush campaign.

I appreciate the veterans right to get their message out and I donated $350. It seems Kerry's people feel that only Kerry is allowed to discuss his history. Fortunately his history is documented in large part such as his written claims of spending Christmas in Cambodia. Now his people concede this is not true although they do not consider it a lie either.

It is a wonderful gift they have handed the Bush campaign.

I agree---the Clintons must have washed thier hands of this election already for all of these suicidal decisions being made. I wonder if the Reps know how to treat a gift horse?

We are becoming a nation ruled by lawyers, not laws since we cannot have an election without lawsuits, appeals to the Supreme Court of one state or another.....

This is way out of line and has to stop!!!!!!!

It seems to me that the Kerry campaign and the Democrats don't have much respect for Freedom of Speech (which is protected under the First Amendment).....

Campaign Finance Reform which was backed by the Democrats and UPHELD by the Supreme Court is ANOTHER violation of First Amendment right to free speech in that it limits political speech during an election

The Freedom of Speech clause of the First Amendment applies to POLITICAL speech only, not to pornography, profanity, etc. But thanks to Supreme Court decisions from the 1970s, together with the insult of Campaign Finance Reform, the Bush Campaign could run an add with nude dancers 30 days before an election, and would be more likely to get away with it than if they ran a campaign ad that addressed issues relevant to the election but nonetheless, portrayed the Kerry Campaign in a negative light.....

Gotta love those cheatin', scum sucking, money hungry lawyers and the judges and politicians that enable them! :-(

I agree. I'll bet a smart mathmetician could come up with a formula, showing how the general quality of life in America has decreased in direct proportion to the rising number of lawyers.

Exactly the reasons why Bush has got to win this election so any new judges will be selected for their ability to uphold the law per the Constitution as written and not twist it into new liberal dogma through judicial activism.

So those scum-sucking lawyers (aka ACLU :finger: ) can get stopped in their tracks!

You are so right about the importance of this election in ways that you do not realize. Somewhere between 1 and 4 Supreme Court positions will be vacated in the next 10 years. That means that there is a good chance that a Supreme Court vacancy will be filled by the person who wins this election.

So what? Here's what! Many decisions recently handed down by the Supreme Court were decided by a SINGLE vote. Lawrence vs. Texas (homosexual sodomy) 5-4, the decision of the 2000 elections 5-4, and so on. If Bush wins the election, the chances are that a conservative will be put on the bench. This may drastically change the character of the decisions decided by the Supreme Court. Since Supreme Court justices have lifetime tenure, this election may have effects that will be felt for at least the next 20 years.

I just read a good book by Phyllis Schlafly titled "The Supremists". The book deals with judicial activism. Follow the link below to read what I've learned about what powers the U.S. Constitution DOES and DOES NOT grant the Judicial Branch...and prepare to be surprised!
