Here is real clear politics with different polls the majority of them showing the same thing the race is tight and Romney has made some gains.
RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - General Election: Romney vs. Obama

Until you look at the Electoral College

RealClearPolitics - 2012 Election Maps - Electoral Map

Obama is leading in ten of twelve swing states

Can you imagine the fit the right would have if Obama is re-elected but loses the popular vote?

I don't think people will be voting for Romney, I think they will be voting against President Obama. I hate to say it, but I really wish Mitch Daniels, the governor of Indiana, was the Republican nominee for president. I stand behind Romney 100% and am willing to give him a chance to make things right, but if he wins the election, he has 2 years and that's it. If things aren't changing and he goes the route President Obama is by placing blame, he will loose my vote.

The vast majority of independent voters will arrive at the same realization as you.

Obama is an abject failure and in way, way over his head.

Romney is not in over his head; he's just a douchebag who has decided to say anything to anyone if he thinks it will get him their vote. The man has no backbone. Most likely, if he is elected, he'll push to raise taxes. Wouldn't that be ironic?

I Just used real clear which gave you several different polls and I would also point out the Rasmussen polls is within the margin of error. As far as the alleged slant goes it has been pointed out more than once here the reason Rasmussen polls vary from the other's is they poll likely voters where the other's poll registered voters the main reason the left does not care for Rasmussen is because there polls don't skew left.

He is not within the margin of error for the average, which is Obama leading by 1.7%.

I would say that that is your baseline.

Of course I'm sure you'll disagree, but whatever.

Polls at this point and for the next few months are going to be all over the place....like this one from yesterday that has both candidates in a dead heat but Obama favored to win by a wide margin.

Poll: Romney, Obama in a dead heat - POLITICO.com

This is kinda like the odds on the Kentucky Derby. The numbers will go back and forth right up until "gate time" which will probably be the conclusion of the final debate in a few months. I think Romney is going to have a difficult time in a battle of words with Obama in these debates.

Also, I think Mitts hidden "finances" and wealth combined with his track record as a union busting, job killing goon is going to hurt him in this economy. For instance here in Albuquerque two of our major industries have announced layoffs just within the past two months. One, a solar panel manufacturer.....closing down.....300 employees out of work. And just this week a software manufacturer....restructuring....100 employees laid off.

Yes, I know Mitt Romney had nothing to do with these events but by Novmber the Obama camp will successfully make the word "layoff" synonymous with mitt Romney's name.

Everybody out of work in America will look at the corporate interests that Romney represents (including health insurance companies) and make the connection to their plight.

He has a lot of "splainin" to do about how as president he plans to put people back to work and just saying he's going to lower taxes on the top 2%in order to "stimulate" small businesses and the economy is not going to work this time.

Americans are finally realizing what Republicans are REALLY up to when they say that crap!

That dog don't hunt no more!

This is why oversampling Democrats based on 2008 turnout gives a false impression of Obama support.

Apparently you think you're simply cheering a high school basketball game huh?

This is more complicated and there's still a LONG way to go!

Try to contain yourself OK? I know your hatred of Barack Obama is all consuming but before this is all over you just might have to get used to calling him your president for four more years.

Mitt has no SUBSTANCE to run on!

Figures.

Rasmussen is the least accurate and most Republican slanted poll there is.

We live in a Republic because the founders understood that a pure democracy could be manipulated by demagogues and appeals to populist notions, and the hoi polloi wouldn't have the sense or inclination to critically examine the consequences of legislation.

Today our representatives in Congress put their reelection first, the people of their district a distant second and the American people in general as an after thought. These members of Congress no longer are fooled by demagogues, rather their support is purchased by donations to their reelection and/or promises for future employment for them, their spouses or their kids. The problem is systemic and includes both parties and has been exacerbated by the Supreme Court (CU v. FEC)

The right wing got something correct, we need to take our country back for it is wholly owned and operated by the special interests - yes that 1% who pay for the propaganda so effective in convincing voters to support policies which go against the self interest of the rest of us.

Yeah but by election time in 2008 it was Rasmussen and EVERYBODY else predicting a landslide Obama victory.

That is not the case for Mitt Romney at this time.

Don't try to muddy the waters with spurious comparisons here!

Rasmussen was way ahead of every other poll , by several months before they all come on board with it.
