Late Stage Socialism: Oil Rich Venezuela Is Out of Gasoline

A question Venezuelans need to ask, and loudly: “Where did the money go?”

The implementation of socialism always reminds me of the common Sci-fi plot hook where someone has the ability to "re-do" a day, a week, a year or any other period of time over and over, but can never get it exactly right, and are forced to continue the loop until they realize (or are made to realize) that the effort if futile. Examples are the gate loop episode of SG1 and the Krenim Time Ship story from Voyager.

Every socialist thinks "This time, we will get it right!" and each time they end up making things worse and are never able to get to their end goal. Then they or someone else tries it again, and gets the same results.

What was that definition of insanity again? Something about repeating the same thing expecting different results?

They all think their "version" will work, and it ends up not working, and then they have to blame some outside reason for the failure.

I think the next stage a large purge. They've just created too many mouths to feed and they are no longer of use to the government. They'll have a "revolution" kill several million of them and dump most of the commie crap, but they will maintain a brutal government.

The cycle continues.

Ideology trumps common sense and disaster follows. An old story.

I read that because of price controls on agricultural produce, food is being illegally exported so farmers don't lose money and can stay in business. Plenty of food shortages as a result. Stupid ideologues and corruption in the gov't.

these countries really are Third World---just think of the foreign aid we give them and where it goes--corruption
