WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Supreme Court justices on Wednesday appeared inclined to rule in favor of an Indiana man who has argued that police violated his constitutional rights by seizing his $42,000 Land Rover vehicle following his conviction for dealing heroin.

If we were talking about possession I would say taking the vehicle was too much. But, it's dealing. The guy already won home detention. Deal? Lose your crap.

Speaking for myself, and as someone who has railed against Civil Asset Forfeiture for a long time, I am happy with the direction of this case so far. The Justices seemed unimpressed with the arguments, which are exceedingly weak, by the Solicitor General of Indiana. I honestly hope they slap limits on the abomination that is Asset Forfeiture, making it nearly impossible to steal someone’s property under color of law using that asinine process.
