The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said American Paul Krugman won the Nobel economics prize "for his analysis of trade patterns and location of economic activity."

Krugman, 55, joined The New York Times in 1999 as a columnist on the Op-Ed Page and is professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University.

Krugman has been a harsh critic of the Bush administration and the Republican Party. He has come out forcefully against John McCain during the economic meltdown, saying the Republican candidate is "more frightening now than he was a few weeks ago" and earlier that the GOP has become "the party of stupid."

Princeton University is planning a press conference today. The time and location will be announced later this morning.

Krugman was the lone of winner of the 10 million kronor ($1.4 million) award and the latest in a string of American researchers to be honored.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences praised Krugman for formulating a new theory to answer questions about free trade.

but someone links an article of multiple nobel prize winners for economics for McCain, and it gets dismissed.

This guy who works for the NYTIMES...which is laughable at how his bias must be, says something and the left has another circle jerk.

Getting heated up there twat?

You have no point. You are pissed off because Krugman got the Nobel Prize. You wouldn't be too worried about it ordinarily but he - *gasp* - WRITES FOR THAT FUCKING LIBERAL RAG THE NEW YORK TIMES!!

O noze!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, but all these Nobel Laureate economists who are backing McCain, why can't they write for the NYT? I know, it's THAT FUCKING LIBERAL RAG WON'T LET THEM WRITE, THEY LET THAT FUCKING SOCIALIST KRUGMAN WRITE THOUGH"

It's not fair!

I want my mommy!

Twat.

lol I could care less about him winning the nobel prize. My whole point is this guy says I love obama and all the leftards here go nutz.

Someone shows thats people who have won the same award go for mccain an dthey dismiss it

iirc they specifically said it's for his academic stuff regarding trade or whatever, not the bilge he's been vomiting out since then

anyway, it's not even a real nobel prize, it's given by the central bank of sweden, usually to people who shill for central banking

Why do people always have to turn everything into politics? Are people's lives so limited that everything has to be viewed through a political prism? How sad.

Whatever you might think about Krugman's political beliefs, or his personal style, he is an accomplished economist. He was the winner of the prestigious John Bates Clark award given to an economist under 40, single handedly re-established location economics and made significant contributions towards our understanding of trade. This is a fine pick.

That's a crappy article. There was no reason to put a reference to McCain in an article about a Nobel Prize winner.
