I've seen the Korean Navy repelling the pirate attack in Somalia
Korea is the only divided country in the world.
I've never knew the difference between the North and the South Korea.
Compared to the notorious North Korea, South Korea is a very different country.
After the fierce Korean navy came to the Gulf of Aden to hunt for the pirates, the Pirates lost their guts and stopped raiding cargo ships.

Nowdays, more than 19.000ships are passing by the coast of Somalia. Navies from 20 countries including US, Britain, China, Germany and Korea, sent 40 ships to escort the commercial ships.

Because of them, we can pass safely not worrying about pirates.

Let's hope that their mission will be accomplished soon

Well done Harry S. Truman, you had the guts to fight for a democratic, thriving economic powerhouse.

Most South Koreans may not know it, but had you not Harry they would all be living in the "Dear Leader's" hell hole.

ROK soldiers were feared by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. They were known for their stealth and garroting their victims. Captured NVA documents proved that the NVA deliberately avoided encounters against ROK soldiers unless victory was guaranteed.

There was a story about a ROK patrol along the Imjin River along the Korean DMZ that spotted what appeared to be bubbles coming from the water, indicating that someone was underwater. They simply fired shots into the area of the bubbles, and the bodies of three North Korean infiltrators floated to the surface.

I've served two tours in the ROK. Always had the belief that we were not there to protect the South from the North. Rather, I believed we were there to stop the South from taking the North.

Unification is an extremely strong cultural bond that extends back over thousands of years. Us Westerners have a difficult time understanding that concept.

I served with guys who did a tour or two over in Korea. People don't know that corporal punishment is still used in the military over there.
If you foul up, you will be standing tall in front of the ROK First Sergeant, and most likely will get slapped around.
They have to be tough. They don't have a choice.

ROK Marines are badasses. They aren't shackled by a bunch of pussy-ass rules. I'd serve with them ANY day.
