How has anyone been misled? Our nation is always changing. Every day since it was founded. Our culture is always changing. Really, we have many different cultures. How in the heck did the original colonies end up in a nation in which people wear cowboy boots and ten-gallon hats and bawl country music? Been to the pueblos? Do you know that a large swath of the southwest belonged to Spanish-speaking people, the Spanish language being brought to the western hemisphere by invaders from Spain? My dad liberated a concentration camp a decade after he and his parents fled Germany. You know what, the Nazis didn't start out with death camps. They started out dehumanizing the Jews and then keeping them at concentration camps to keep them away from regular Germans, with the expectation of sending them somewhere else.

It's how so many of them ended up in Palestine, and look how well that's worked out.

You stop these things before they turn into death camps, not after.
