We ( the US) need to watch out. These ideas tend to end up over here. So much for learning from mistakes of others.
In early July, France's National Assembly adopted a draft bill designed to curtail online hate speech. The draft bill gives social media platforms 24 hours to remove "hateful content" or risk fines of up to 4% percent of their global revenue. The bill has gone to the French Senate and could become law after parliament's summer recess. If it does, France will be the second country in Europe after Germany to pass a law that directly makes a social media company censor its users on behalf of the state.

We don’t have COMPLETE free speech in the US now! There are limits.
So, what’s wrong with laws against ISIS recruitment for terrorist purposes, etc?

Nothing but it does not stop there. It will also stop criticism of the government policies on immigration when there are many valid reasons to object. It will also stifle the truth about Islam because describing hate is somehow hateful to these people.

Canada is also pushing this. Silencing people to ensure big, centrally controlled media will control the news cycles and not individuals sharing ideas and opinions.

You can believe:

In two-three years all free-thinking white conservative Christians and people with traditional velues will be send to prisons or sentenced to death in EU.

But some are more equal

e.g. Antifa, Merkel, libs. dems, faggots, pedophiles, commies, socies, clima histerics etc.

The biggest problem I have with all the hate speech laws is that they are applying the term to Ideology.

Any rational thinking individual living in the West SHOULD hate the destructive ideology called Islam. It stands in diametrical opposition to what we hold dear.

People should be able to assail an ideology all they want and nations that criminalize such are signing their own death warrant.

Do you call a message like "Let us go and hang a migrant" an expression of free opinion or an apointment to do a crime? If you do not react, when you read such a message, and someone dies - is this a crime in your country?

We should have some court-DEFINED terminology about what “hate speech” is nowadays in the Internet age, or do we already have it at the Federal level?
That definition should exclude PC text, but allow any public entity to filter/delete that “hate speech” text.

In my opinion, “Let us go and hang a migrant" DOES signify hate speech. If the writer did not mean “harmful hate”, then they need to be clearer in their text.

This fails as a slippery slope fallacy.

There is nothing valid about bigotry and hate directed at immigrants and Muslims

It is against the belief system Islam. I seldom mention Muslims. As far as illegal immigrants we do not need them. We are ready to take in 1 million legally. No bigotry involved just accepting fact and acknowledging reality.
