Kids vs. the Elderly

Spoiling your kids does NOT equal loving them

If you love your child, you will tell them NO often and frequently
I bet you twas a great Mudder...

Actually I have two grown sons with great jobs and they are responsible.
They never have to ask me how to do things, for help with money, they figure it out and do it all on their own.
Because I raised them to be independent.

If that makes me a bad mother, so be it.
I bet they don't ask or come around because of your general dislike of kids...

they love to be around me (my grown sons)
I don't hate kids.
I do think they are annoying and boring so I'm glad I don't have any. I think they are fun in small doses.
I LOVE infants!!!! Except when they are screaming uncontrollably.

And we love pay checks, but not when we have to pay bills..

I'm the first person to bitch about how the elderly drive (normally anyone 85 and older, and particularly women) - HOWEVER, it's sickening how this is a kids world.

Kids are treated like Veterans. They get preferential treatment everywhere.

Case in point:

I go to a lot of sporting events, most of them baseball games. Who gets balls thrown to them? KIDS.
If there are people around for autographs, who gets the autographs? KIDS

I would more likely give a 60, 70, 80, 90 year old a ball or autograph. Why?
They won't be around much longer! This may be their LAST chance to get a baseball or signature.
Half the kids don't even appreciate it anyway because they get everything they want in life anyway.....

Sad

It's all about hope. Our lives lose hope after a while and then put all our hope onto our kids. Therefore we want to give kids the reasons for having hope. Baseballs get given to kids because kids are aspiring to be baseball stars. You hope that one baseball might make them push themselves. The old get a baseball, so what? What will they do with a thing that is literally that, a thing? Nothing.

Teach your kid to do something on their own, like, open a bank account and keep it balanced, save.
It will give them more sense of accomplishment and hope then a useless baseball.

It happens.

You saw Obama talk about hope. Trump talk about hope.

They do so because most people have lost hope for their lives. They've had their kids, they've got their miserable job, their house and there's nothing left to hope for. Okay, there's the occasional sporting event etc, but politics becomes their hope, that the next leader will do something for them to make their lives somehow better.

Doesn't happen of course, but you shout hope out the window, they'll vote for you.

Oh I meant the baseballs I got as a kid at ball games withered and decayed, plus the kids played with them and so did the dogs, I still have plenty of hope..and no president can make your life better, that is up to the individual..

People need leadership (not all but most) because most of the country are moronic followers...

If you have someone decent leading, they will take the example.

Much like parenting.... but our worlds spins on media and money - meaningless and damaging in the end.

Yes it is. But too many people put that onto people like Trump and Obama because they've given up. That's what passes as politics. Instead of improving the country, they're peddling in hope.

It's why humans like religion so much too.

There was a time when I wanted a foul ball, a bat, etc. as a souvenir. But I was a kid and grew out of it. Since those days I've snared two fouls at Wrigley Field and gave both of them to kids sitting nearby.

Also once at Wrigley a foul got hit into the stands near me deep along the third base line and several fans scrambled to retrieve it. It came down to a kid and an adult guy reaching for it under a seat and it looked like the guy actually took it away from the kid. While he was holding it in the air celebrating his good fortune, nearby fans began to boo him. Didn't bother him though and he finally tucked it away in a pocket.

The fans didn't like that at all and after a couple of minutes a chant started up..."Give the kid the ball!...give the kid the ball!..." More and more joined in and it got louder and louder. A few guys, likely inspired by a few Old Styles, stood and started yelling other things at the guy. An a-hole but not a dumbbell, he finally relented and handed the ball over. Some fans were still giving him a hard time though and finally security showed up, talked to him for a few moments, and he then decided to leave the game under their escort. He wasn't tossed but I think security suggested he best be on his way.

You should not feel compelled to give a kid a ball.
During batting practice, I have seen kids yelling for balls and they would hoard them. Players would thrown them 4-5 and others got ignored/neglected. That is wrong.

I dunno if you're responding to me, but I didn't feel compelled to give my fouls to those kids. As an adult I just didn't have an interest/desire for a ball, but I remembered how big a deal it seemed to me when I was a kid and decided to give 'em to those two kids. And it felt nice doing so.

Well, if you don't care that is one thing.
As long as the kid genuinely appreciates it.
I just don't like the kids that get greedy and selfish. And, HATE the parents that allow it, like their kids are entitled

I get what you are saying here. I can understand why celebrities would want to try and score new and younger fans, but in my opinion, doing such a thing should not be at the expense of those who have been with them since the beginning. Never forget where you come from.

God bless you always!!! :) :) :)

Holly

P.S. Then again those who have been a fan of the celebrity long enough will most likely already have such a thing from the celebrity. They still shouldn't be over looked, to me, especially should one fall behind the other long time fans. The celebrity should never once hesitate to tell their long time fans "Thank you for staying with me."

We were all kids once.
I don't feel neglected or short changed for not having everything in the world.
I went on vacations with my family, trips to Disney World, Vail Colorado. My best memories were at home playing games with my family. Not that other BS
