and if you buy a laptop for your child, make sure it doesn't have a web-cam built in
and, there was flash sites that can automatically start your web-cam if you don't make sure that setting is turned off
and thats Adobe Flash, not some strange spyware program

Those girls knew the camera was on and disrobed voluntarily.

Nobody took control of their webcam.

A 31-year-old California man was arrested in June on extortion charges after authorities said he hacked into more than 200 computers and threatened to expose nude photos he found unless their owners posed for more sexually explicit videos. Forty-four of the victims were juveniles, authorities said. Federal prosecutors said he was even able to remotely activate some victims' webcams without their knowledge and record them undressing or having sex.

This is not the first time I have heard this claim about web cams. I don't understand why a kid needs one.

Yes you can get them without web cams but they are the professional laptops. Not the sleek ones that the kids want set up more for media.

You would be amazed what a drop of black nail polish will do...

Yes you can get a cell phone without a cameras. My new company phone does not have a camera and I have had it for less then 6 months

Yeah i know they can get it off..but its better then nothing.

the simple solutions:
Close the lid of the laptop when not in use
Unplug an external cam when not in use.
