Boy banned from playground for haircut as mum calls school 'culturally biased'

The playground was once again kept safe when Josiah Sharpe's attempts to play on the playground were foiled by school officials. The five year old lost his playground privileges at Summerhill Primary Academy, Tipton, until his hair grew back to a satisfactory length.

Apparently, his hair is not dangerous enough to be banned from attending school altogether, but something about extreme haircuts and playgrounds pose an unreasonably high risk to other children. As usual, the kid's mom played the race card and claimed the school's policy is culturally biased -- but from the article, the school policy clearly states "..hairstyles that are deemed by the school to be extreme, are not acceptable’ and 'hair should be no shorter than ‘number two’ length..(the boy's) hairstyle detracts from learning".

This is probably why it may be a good idea to not have kids like this one attend the same school as the satisfactory kids; this is why Britain is having so many issues -- they are being invaded by kids with extreme haircuts, who I am sure have just as extreme ideologies.

Just look at this thug..an absolute danger..

Playing the race card was the mom's mistake, the UK only bends cultural rules for Muslims.

Poor little guy.

A friend who adopted two African American boys had a devil of a time finding someone around here who knew how to deal with that hair.
It takes experience. It was very important to the boys, though, just as it is to all kids.

I'd pull that little sweetie out of that school so fast he wouldn't know where he was.

Maybe the kid is muslim --- but what you and the school saw is a black kid first...
Clearly, what you see is a black kid, but what the school apparently saw was a haircut that violated the published school rules. Requiring certain hairstyles is no different from requiring school uniforms. Many people think requiring certain dress codes sets the right mood for disciplined learning in the classroom.

Nah, it is to socialize them into useful economic units who group think as told to.

So you see yourself as a useless economic unit?

Then why is he in the classroom genius?

He is being banned from the playground, not the classroom -- what they are doing in punitive in nature, nothing to do with "protecting" the classroom's learning experience.

Don't be stupid. The school wanted to discipline him for breaking the published rules without jeopardizing his education.

No, the school is culturally out of touch as are many Euros when it comes to a black person's hair -- which is why no one here has said it is an "extreme haircut" --- for decades white folks have been freaking out over what black people do with their hair; if they cut it, then they can't cut it a certain way without a problem...if they grow out their hair, then that is also a problem...if they braid it, it is a problem

Bullshit, you are putting up one racist post after another. The published school rules say hair must be a minimum length and his haircut is practically to the skin on the sides. You are a racist so you see everything in terms of race and are unable to consider other issues. It's very sad.
