"As far as other presidents, I don't know, you could ask Gen. Kelly, did he get a call from Obama? I don't know what Obama's policy was," Trump said during a Fox News radio interview.

CNN asked the White House to talk to Kelly about this issue, but they declined to make him available. Kelly did not respond to a direct request from comment from CNN and the White House declined to make any statement on the record.
Kelly, the highest-ranking military official to lose a child in Iraq or Afghanistan, has tried to keep his son's death private.

Kelly, who is regularly seen next to the President at events, was noticeably absent from Trump's events on Tuesday afternoon after he made his comments about the retired Marine four-star general's son.

Four days later, the grieving father with the four-decade military career asked a Marine Corps officer not to mention Robert’s death during an event in St. Louis.

But Kelly, whose son was killed in Afghanistan in 2010, attended a 2011 White House breakfast for Gold Star families with his wife. The two were seated at first lady Michelle Obama's table, NBC's Peter Alexander reported.

(he even sat with Michelle Obama)

Right wingers are trying to use Kelly's name as a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card. Kelly this and Kelly that.

They don't understand the feelings this man had for his son and how he felt when his son died. You can't use Kelly's name when he hasn't come out and said anything publicly. Just because, up to now, he's been silent, doesn't mean he agrees.

Trump started this. He brought it up first. Instead of being embarrassed, Republicans want to drag a grieving father into their mess. It really is deplorable.

There are like half a dozen threads on this garbage already
If Obama had been this insensitive, Republicans would be screaming for him to be lynched.

And YOU would be leading the charge. We both know that to be true.

Both sides have gone over the line on this one. We can debate which side went over the line first, but what's the point?

There has to be a point where Kelly says, "I'm too good for this!"
I don't think so.

I think he is afraid of what Trump will do to this country if left unchecked.

The point is that Trump is a monster. A dangerous narcissist. He has to be exposed.

Wrong Derp, you need to stop with your infantile projecting, you get slapped silly every time you do it.

All you're doing is using military deaths to make political statements and it's wrong. I don't care who is doing it, Trump, Obama, you or anyone else...just stop

Well Huckabee stated the following and it was not regarding the issue with Obama and his son.

This isn't an anonymous source like the piece of shit OP put up.

General Kelly was present on the call with Mrs Johnson, and according to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, ‘he thought the president did the best job he could under those circumstances to offer condolences on behalf of the country.’

She added that Kelly is ‘disgusted by the way this has been politicized, and that the focus has become on the process and not the fact American lives were lost.’

If you don't want shit politicized, don't politicize shit.

You personally had no problem politicizing phone calls to the families of fallen soldiers.

Now that it is exposed douchebag Obama couldn't be bothered to make a simple phone call...now suddenly it's over the line.

Fuck you. You reap what you sow.

Presidents call the spouse. Calling a parent is not the first responsibility.
General Kelly was just giving a brilliant and sensitive lecture on these calls.

And Trump did call the spouse, it was a conference call with the parents and the sheep dip congresswoman. That bit of sewage was deftly dealt with by Kelly.

Okay, you can try to put lipstick on this pig all day, but Trump still said the stupid, insensitive things that he said.
