Kids are much more traumatized if you take away games, TV, toys etc.

Of course, it often traumatizes the parents too which is why they don't do it or enforce it. (Lazy!)

My parents used to send me to my room as punishment.

It's where all my cool stuff was.

Yeah I learned that with my youngest after one time.
Then I sent him to the basement where there is nothing but a couch, desk, and washer dryer and bathroom. I removed the TV. That worked much better...
