If so, I believe I made it clear then that the church's teachings to the best of my knowledge were for the mother to make the choice, if able. I don't see all that much new, just AP trying to show that Church is still in middle ages, nothing new there at all.

Interesting isn't it, that suddenly Benedict is the 'enlightened one?'
 
My point here is that they are talking about the doctrine of double effect as influencing their decision.

You said that this was just some nonsense that Thomas wrote a long time ago that the Church didn't pay any attention to.
