Kasich's Extreme Issue 2 Bill Going Down In Ohio

Thanks for visiting, wingnuts. And welcome to an elated Ohioan's celebration.

You didn't answer my question. What happens when businesses start fleeing Ohio because they can't afford the taxes to support these lavish union benefits?

Your supposition doesn't hold true in real world applications. Are states with little or no taxes doing better than those with high taxes?

Are "tax friendly" states like Nevada doing any better for new business than a less friendly state?

When a business is looking to start in a state, is it taxes they cite as the reason?

A no vote on issue 2 is a vote for Teachers, Firefighters, Police and bargaining rights in general.

Kasich is looking a little glum lately.

Kasich Tries to Calm Ohio Unions Pushing Vote on Bargaining Law

Since Ohio Governor John Kasich signed a law restricting government unions similar to one backed by Wisconsin’s Scott Walker, he has spent months trying to avoid a divisive referendum on the measure, using private talks and public pressure.

After Walker braved a Capitol occupation and residents began trying to recall his legislative allies, Kasich supported private discussions with labor leaders in June, said Curt Steiner, a Republican consultant who hosted the talks at his Columbus office. When those proved fruitless, Kasich held news conferences last week urging opponents to consider a compromise taking the issue off the Nov. 8 ballot.

Right.. :cuckoo:

So what happens when Ohio goes bankrupt because it can't afford these lavish union benefits?

In IL, Governor Quinn, who is the lapdog of the Public Sector Unions, has given them everything but the Sudetenland. Taxes have gone up 66% and companies are fleeing in droves.

That's the whole point!

They want to turn every city into Detroit and every state into Illinois

They have large portions of the population voting for their own destruction, it's a beautiful plan and I give the KGB full credit

Everyone and anyone that is in favor of a balanced budget and fiscal responsibility by government, is automatically considered "dumb" by the lib/commie/progressive/socialist crowd. Of course these people are the same pigs that are shitting on wall street....

Let me correct you. Those that are stupid and dumb are those like you who cannot see the fog that the rich and ultra rich have you believing. Let them get away with "legalized" theft , and you think it is their right.
The income disparity and ideology of those like you have been held in check since the crash of the late '20's. But here they are, with the help of dumbies like you, they are rearing their ugly head again.
UNIONS FOREVER

Private sector unions, no problem. If those in business want to deal with the Unions then we the consumer can decide to buy or not to buy what that business is producing.

Public Sector, big problem. The TAXPAYERS get hosed to support the lavish pensions, HC and perks.

Even FDR said there should be no public sector unions. Smart man in that respect.

Taxpayers get hosed by those in charge. The more money they save by cutting salaries services the more their pay rises.
Take a look at your own local entity. I dare you and look at how their salaries have risen and check their "lavish" pensions, HC and perks.
But , hell that is no problem for narrow-minded people like you.
FDR wasn't right about everything.

Ill be voting yes on November 8th. The money laundering needs to stop. I'm for treating these workers well but this stuff rewards union buddies and goes overboard on pensions that are unsustainable. Not sure where a lot of these unions get off thinking they deserve so much more than those that work in the private sector.

Right.. :cuckoo:

DEMOCRATS DEMANDING THE RIGHT TO FLEECE TAXPAYERS.

Got it!!

my thoughts exactly, why don't unions fund their own damn shit and leave the private sector out of it?

Having negotiated several municipal labor contracts under Ohio's old law, and in two other states, I must point out how the unions have misrepresented what the law actually does, or does not do. It does not take away employees right to bargain collectively for wages, it does reduce staffing levels of any public service, it does not effect private sector employees which proponents of repeal have insinuated in their ads, it does nor prevent safety forces from properly responding to emergency situations, it does provide for accountability for teachers and other employees resulting in merit pay rather than being given raises based on how long they have worked in a position.

The unions have portrayed that they have been able to negotiate for staffing levels, equipment, etc. This not true. These items fall under management rights In my administrative position in over twenty years of experience I never negotiated with unions on these items. Safety items came under work rules and were dealt with at department levels and approved by me. That union ads portraying anything different are just outright lies to the public.

One thing the new laws does, and rightfully so, is to abolish binding arbitration. Though I had to deal with it I believe it is an illegal practice since all appropriations are to be made by the elected governing body, this practice strips them of that legal obligation and gives it to an unelected, outsider dictating what a community must spend on labor contracts. Also, my experience dealing with binding arbitration has been whenever an arbitrator rules against the union, which sometimes happens, in other arbitration situations around the state the unions make sure that particular local union knows who these people are and essentially blacklist them in an effort to get an arbitrator that historically has ruled in favor of the union. I wish that the new law had supplanted this proviso with at least a final best offer approach that involves mediation and both sides agree to abide by that decision.

As for paying for pension benefits, I paid mine all the years i was in public administration and sometimes had to pay a portion of my healthcare too, or pay higher copays. I see no reason why todays public employees in Ohio should not do the same.

SB5 is going to go down next month and possibly to the chagrin of the unions municipalities, school districts, counties, and other local government entities will sooner or later have to reduce staffing levels to meet their legal obligation of having a balanced budget every year. What will they say to these employees who suddenly find themselves without a job? The union bosses will shake their heads and say we preserved the burdensome union mandates provided by the old law. Sorry you lost your job.

Thus speaks another spoiled brat entitlement junkie who thinks he's entitled to the works of others.

That "legalized theft" he speaks of is otherwise known as hard earned money.

He thinks that's theft, YET if Unions force their workers to pay dues to support candidates they don't want, OR our hard earned money is taxed away from us to give to those who don't want to work THAT'S NOT THEFT, RIGHT???????? :cuckoo:

Then they wonder why so many Democrats got tossed out of office in 2010 and it doesn't look like that's going to change for 2012.

That's what they are trying to do!

Turn Ohio into Detroit.

Believe me there are voters (like me) in Ohio that are fighting to stop that from happening.

IF there are no collective bargaining rights for federal workers. Why do there have to be for state workers?

You should get a rabies shot before you foam at the mouth any more.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

That made absolutely NO sense!

Who are the unions "collective bargaining" against? It isn't those politicians. Those politicians don't pay their salaries.

WE PAY THEIR SALARIES AND THEIR BENEFITS, THE TAXPAYERS OF THE STATE OF OHIO!

If we do not end this nonsense, the only alternative is to raise taxes. It won't be the politicians paying those taxes, WE WILL!

So the tax payer should have no say about this? We shouldn't be able to say? Hold on! We are out of work. Our pay is being cut. We can't find jobs. How do you expect us to pay higher taxes??????

You self centered SELFISH BRATS think money only comes from the "rich." That only the "rich" pay taxes.

LOOK AT WHO OBAMA CALLS RICH!

That's a big chuck of the middle class AND I'M SORRY WE DON'T GOT IT!

Not at all. I love it when politicians show courage and conviction. When Kasich took over Ohio the budget deficit was $8 billion. He balanced it, without raising taxes. We need more Governors like him.

By selling off public assets? Kasich is a corporate tool.

He's a tool, he's a jerk, he's a big dummy. Powerful arguments!! Do you have anything useful to say or are you going to stick with the name calling?

Anyway, what did he sell? Five prisons? Big deal. States across the country are doing the same thing. He made some tough choices and balanced the budget. Kasich is doing what the people of Ohio elected him to do.

it would be nice if she raised her level of debate above name calling. I hope she will someday. as of now ive never seen her argue anything of substance.

id like to know what happens when all the businesses who cant afford taxes are chased away. id also like to know what public assets he was selling off. Id like to know what is so crazy about balancing budgets and living within our mean wihen the logical consequences of not doing so are not a pretty picture. Alas, i dont believe that those who simply namecall to argue will ever address or even acknowledge that these questions exist. yet they will continually presume that they are the smartest people in the room.

people can be very odd sometimes.

Tough choices? Even Rs don't know where he stands on anything from one minute to the next. He's backpedaling on issue 2 for god's sake. He now wants it taken off the ballot so he doesn't look quite so dumb.

As if Democrats are going to do that.

He's a tool.

Remember when he tried to get the unions to compromise after it became apparent this was gonna go down in flames and the unions told him to frig off?

:D
