Republic or Democracy:
The word "Republic" comes from the Latin res publica, which means simply "the public thing(s)," or more simply "the law(s)." "Democracy," on the other hand, is derived from the Greek words demos and kratein, which translates to "the people to rule." Democracy, therefore, has always been synonymous with majority rule.
BUT, keep in mind, the most “democratic” organization on earth is a Lynch Mob. It not only operates by majority rule, but by consensus unanimity. Majority rule, unrestrained by the principles of Republicanism, instantly become totalitarianism of the worst sort. This is why America was never ever a Democracy but, thankfully, a Republic, where the rights of ALL minorities are respected and protected. Communism, Fascism, and Nazism were all "democracies."
