Just wondering what Romney will say now?

What are the key differences between RomneyCare and ObamaCare?

It is often asserted that RomneyCare is the same thing as ObamaCare, but this is simply not true. While there are similarities, there are also key differences. Below is a table of differences between the Romney plan and the Obama plan.

RomneyCare – The Truth about Massachusetts Health Care | Mitt Romney Central

Mitt is playing fast and loose with the truth. MA residents also pay a tax penalty if they don't purchase insurance. And him claiming Obamacare is unconstitutional is laughable.

The State plan was not constitutionally challenged and as you know the Federal plan was found to be constitutional just yesterday. Speaking of playing fast and loose with the truth, Mitt simply said he agreed with the dissenting SCOTUS judges.

It is this SCOTUS decision itself which declared this Federal mandate as a TAX.

It's as Constitutional as any other tax. Romney, as well as other knowledgable people knew that it as unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause.

Ah, so he's just slow at updating his website. Kind of like he's slow at forming an opinion on immigration. :D

And your claim that the state plan wasn't constitutionally challenged is just silly. MA isn't crawling with rightwing fucktards, so why would it be?

I am not claiming anything, those are just facts in response to your claim that Mitt was somehow playing fast and loose by calling it a penalty and not a tax... Since the constitutionality of the State plan was never questioned, it was simply not defined as a tax at the time. That partisans choose not to comprehend the differences in the two situations from a State perspective vs a Federal perspective is what's really fast and loose here...

was romney care a job killer too?

did romney care put the State between us and our health care decisions?

all that he's mumbling does not negate romney care as being obama care on the state level....

and WHY didn't he say the 500 billion in cuts to medicare was over 10 years and why didn't he tell the public that the republicans in their plan cut medicare 490 million, just 10 bil less over 10 years than the dems....so the repubs support the medicare cuts and if they say they don't, they are lying....

not impressed with his speech, basically.....saw it as slimey and evading why it was okay to mandate insurance under him and not obama....?

This speech is just a brief statement in response to today's SCOTUS decision which answers your OP question and which also serves as a starting point to the very necessary National discussion prior to the election where all of those facts you are concerned with will be put on the table and there will rightfully be a referendum where the American voters will ultimately decide such an important and impactful issue...
I totally agree Val, I just want both sides to make their judgements on Truth, not falsities or twists and convoluted turn statements, made by both parties!!!

I can dream.... ;)

I like the convoluted statements.. Made for interesting conversations with the uptight whitey Rights..

What ever happened to the.....

DEATH PANELS??????

We definitely need more Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann on the "news" shows to explain the complexities of the AHC ... I like my crazy...cute..with bedroom eyes...

Well, medical providers have needed to increase their administrative staff, that's for sure!

2 – Did RomneyCare harm job growth in Massachusetts?

No. Numerous sources state that Massachusetts is currently growing jobs faster than 44 other states. Deval Patrick, the current governor of Massachusetts, revealed in an interview on Sept. 2, 2011 that the unemployment rate in MA (at 7.4%) is well below the national average (of 9.1%) and still going down. MA also ranks “fifth or sixth” in the country as the best state to do business. So did RomneyCare harm job creation in MA? No. Five years later job growth is very strong, better than the mcuh of the country in fact, and unemployment is considerably lower than the national average and continues to decline.

FactCheck.org also looked into the claim that RomneyCare harmed job growth. Their conclusion: “There is no evidence to conclude that Massachusetts health reform has cost jobs.”

The only real difference between the two plans is that one is at a state level and one is at a federal level.

So Romney will have to explain why Romneycare is good but Obamacare is bad. So far he hasn't come up with a credible explanation.

In a slip of the tongue, Gov. Bobby Jindal briefly referred to “Obamneycare,” the mocking label Republican opponents of Mitt Romney in the GOP primaries used to describe the Affordable Care Act, in a call promoting Romney’s efforts to repeal the bill.

“Theres only one candidate, Governor Romney, who has committed that he will repeal the Obamney–” he said, before catching himself, “the Obamacare tax increase.”

Whoops: Bobby Jindal Calls It 'Obamneycare' | TPM Livewire

Lot of hypocrisy out there.

At first, Romney told those on the right that the reason Romneycare's mandate was okay was because it was constitutional at the State level but Obamacare was not constitutional at the federal level....

so now that the SC ruled it was constitutional....what's Romney going to say now???

Did I miss it? Should I turn on Fox news?

Whatever he says - HE LOSES

Mr. Etch-a-Sketch:

Our experience also demonstrates that getting every citizen insured doesn't have to break the bank. First, we established incentives for those who were uninsured to buy insurance. Using tax penalties, as we did, or tax credits, as others have proposed, encourages "free riders" to take responsibility for themselves rather than pass their medical costs on to others. This doesn't cost the government a single dollar. Second, we helped pay for our new program by ending an old one — something government should do more often. The federal government sends an estimated $42 billion to hospitals that care for the poor: Use those funds instead to help the poor buy private insurance, as we did. ~ Mitt Romney
