The pilot was a mistake imo. I has VERY LITTLE to do with the rest of the series other than setting up a back story for one character.I didn't like the pilot episode.
It made no sense.

When it comes to good sci-fi you gotta hold your nose once and awhile with the narrative. Otherwise you miss out on what little is available and worth viewing.Star Trek is socialist and atheist, Star Wars is Free Market and spiritual.

I dunno. Some parts of the social justice agenda get tiresome but some of the sci-fi tech is pretty damn cool. Love the new jump drive abilities. Looks cool & sounds cool. Like how they used it in the season finale battle. Most Trek shows were self contained but I like how this one is focusing on the war with the Klingons. The double twist at the end is intriguing. they have totally fucked with the trek timeline....they just made it for folks like me unwatchable,its only trek in name....same with the movies...abrams fucked that up too...I dunno. The movies however I would partially agree with.
I grew up watching Kirk & Spock. After that every new installment sucked at first but eventually grew on me. They did a good job casting the JJ movies but it just didn't click because his new crew hadn't been on tv for a few years before hitting the big screen.
And to be quite honest the very first movies were pretty terrible despite being true to the source.
