It seems to me that the term "liberal" is used more by the right as a dirty word, a denigration, a putt-down, etc that the term "conservative" is by the left.

First am I right or just reading what I want. If I am right, what's the party line about equating liberalism with: communism, socialism, treasonism, child molesting and goat fucking to mention a few? I know that certain elements in the conservative party have been trying to make it a dirty word for a long time. I guess in their mind they have succeeded.

Now again there is the term "compassionate conservative" Anyone who has to describe themself or their philosophy as compassionate, isn't.

So tell me all the terrible things that liberals have done beside found this country.

I was thinking about this yesterday while hearing Bobby Kennedy talk to a crowd that hadn't yet heard that MLK had been killed. In a short span of time, three liberal leaders were murdered...JFK, MLK, RFK. I'm a little rusty on the history but I think it has something to do with civil rights...why libs are hated.

You DO realize that in the past 40 years, the liberals have only controlled the White House for 16 of those?

Even though Congress has been controlled by Democrats for the majority of that time, rarely have they had the numbers to overturn a veto.

Liberals destroyed the school system? Where's the money for No Child Left Behind, a bill passed by an entirely Republican government? Why has this President of 8 years and a Republican Congress for the past 12 years done NOTHING to improve the quality of schools in this country? Do you realize how much money could have been spent on school systems, college scholarships, teacher's salaries...health care...so many things that are FAR more important to the lives of American people than this imperialistic fight over oil. I'm guessing you don't know/care how much it costs, and I'm guessing you don't realize how much could be spent on better things. Here's an idea: Cost of War.

Social Security, give me a fucking break. Bush spent the money the Clinton administration had saved for Social Security before he was even elected. His little "tax break" checks he sent out after his election were straight from my Social Security fund. And what was left was wasted on a war we can't win.

Maybe if conservatives spent less time worrying about how better to control the minds of the American people and more time on fixing the problems that actually exist, this country wouldn't be on the downward spiral.
