Libs still haven't apologized for this story of Big Labor Thuggery.

A group of rent-a-cops, 19th Century Paul Blarts, were contracted to protect the Homestead PA steel mill run by the Beloved Henry C. Frick.

Since it was 1892, and Uber hadn't been invented yet, they came by barge to the work site.

Labor goons attacked them in cold blood, killing several of the Pinkerton security guards, Big Labor scored a major victory. No one was ever charged, it was 1892 and Big Labor had a lot of pull with the jury pools in Homestead. Indeed, the ringleader of the Labor Goons was a Mr. McLuckie who was also the chief executive of the city of Homestead.

It would be nice if the libs would take some responsibility here.

If you go to a mall or an office building today, remember the sacrifice the security guards made this date, and remember to thank the mall cops for their service. the sacrifices they made this date in 1892 will never be forgotten.

Correct; UBER wasn't around yet.

did they have any airports then? I think they did have some airports; right?

Libs slaughtered the Rent a Cops in Homestead, PA in cold blood- merely for the "crime" of reporting to work.

The Pinkertons gave their lives for our democracy and the rule of law.

You mean the private guards.

Frick's intent was to open the works with nonunion men on July 6. Knox devised a plan to get the Pinkertons onto the mill property. With the mill ringed by striking workers, the agents would access the plant grounds from the river. Three hundred Pinkerton agents assembled on the Davis Island Dam on the Ohio River about five miles below Pittsburgh at 10:30 p.m. on the night of July 5, 1892. They were given Winchester rifles, placed on two specially-equipped barges and towed upriver.[26] They were also given badges which read "Watchman, Carnegie Company, Limited."[27] Many had been hired out of lodging houses at $2.50 per day and were unaware of what their assignment was in Homestead.[28]

The strikers were prepared for the Pinkerton agents; the AA had learned of the Pinkertons as soon as they had left Boston for the embarkation point. The small flotilla of union boats went downriver to meet the barges. Strikers on the steam launch fired a few random shots at the barges, then withdrew—blowing the launch whistle to alert the plant. The strikers blew the plant whistle at 2:30 a.m., drawing thousands of men, women and children to the plant.[29]

today you are allowed to strike. I am all pro the creation on the unions. They will be needed again, but there are a few left. The republicans want rid of all unions so we can "make America great again". They want to go back in time to the outlaw days when women could not vote , workers had no rights, and when an employer could get away with murder.

"Rent a cop" or "private guard" is the same dam thing. These are the people that are hired to protect factories, shopping malls and other important properties. Knox was actually Secretary of State, Attorney General and US Senator Philander Knox, not just some doofus. A very important and beloved public figure of his time.

The Pinkerton Rent a Cops had a right to report to work to defend the property in Homestead, PA. People had a right to strike, but not to interfere with lawful industry.

In this case, it was Big Labor who sent in the thugs to fight the Rent a Cops who were only reporting to protect the facility in Homestead from an angry mob.

Indeed the Pinkerton Mall Guards came in the middle of the night in order to try and AVOID any trouble.
