Judeah and Samaria = West Bank!!

The two separate nations of Israel in the north with capital at Samaria, and Judah in the south with capital at Jerusalem, went downhill at separate rates.

Israel went into paganism first and God allowed them to be taken captive in two separate waves by the Assyrians.

The Israelites never returned.

I'm sorry, I'll read that again....

The Israelites never returned.

Judah worshipped God a little longer, but God sent the Babylonians to take them into captivity about 120 years after Israel. Some Jews returned after 70 years to rebuild Jerusalem.

But enough remained in Mesopotamia for Flavius Josephus, the Jewish historian, to say, 700 years later, about 100AD: "The ten tribes are beyond the Euphrates till now, and are an immense multitude, and not to be estimated by numbers."

Around 200 BC some of the returned Jews lived as an autonomous people in the land of Israel, referred to, by most, as Judea, which at that time was controlled by the Seleucid king of Syria. The Jewish people paid taxes to Syria and accepted its legal authority, and by and large were free to follow their own faith, maintain their own jobs, and engage in trade.

By 175 BC Antiochus IV Epiphanes ascended to the Seleucid throne. At first little changed, but under his reign, the Temple in Jerusalem was looted, Jews were massacred, and Judaism was effectively outlawed. In 167 BC Antiochus ordered an altar to Zeus erected in the Temple.
The king may have been intervening in an internal civil war between the traditionalist Jews in the country and the Hellenized elite Jews in Jerusalem. These competed violently over who would be the High Priest, with traditionalists with Hebrew/Aramaic like Onias overthrown by Hellenizers with Greek names like Jason and Menelaus. As the conflict escalated, Antiochus took the side of the Hellenizers by prohibiting the religious practices the traditionalists had rallied around. This may explain why the king, in a total departure from Seleucid practice in all other places and times, banned the traditional religion of a whole people.
from my previous link
Your previous link was filled with lies and historical errors. It's a websites dedicated to Jew hatred with hundreds of articles about Jews this and Jews that.

You Jew hating IslamoNazi dirtbags get attracted to sites like this like flies to shit.
And yet another great review from the same website:

"They note that, unlike the aftermath of the First Jewish-Roman War chronicled by Josephus..." Even the 1st war was bloody enough, leaving hundreds of thousands of victims, enslaved and killed. But I agree that Bar-Kohba was worse. BTW, there was Kitos War also, and the destruction it caused touched half of the Roman Middle East.

"Judea would not be a center of Jewish religious..." Depends on your definition. Safed (Tsfat) certainly was a great spiritual centre for Qabbalists since 17th century (if my memory serves me right). Jerusalem had enough value to observant Jews to settle there in the last years of the life and be buried. Judah Halevi is an example of this.

"This is pure propaganda, designed deliberately to make you feel that poor Jews were persecuted" They certainly many times hadn't an access to the Cave of the Patriarchs, Josef's Tomb and other holy places, as well as killed by Arabs. Perhaps you were mistaken about this. "They were just about as persecuted.Almohad Caliphate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 'Land of Israel' Myth

In Egypt's Eighteenth Dynasty about 1300BC, Habiru nomadic tribesmen were taken to Egypt as forced labor on building projects. During the reign of Ramesses II (1304-1237BC), Moses led twelve tribes--each believed to be descended from a great-grandson of Abraham--back to the Levant.

This became a revered tradition--the Exodus--among the Israelites, Moses's chosen people. While wandering they forged a collective faith and identity, and received Mosaic Law on Mount Sinai.

They then invaded the peaceful land of milk and honey, Canaan, with great slaughter.

This map of the southern Levant, c.830 BC, shows the multitude of small states that actually ruled the area.
The Philistine and Phoenician city-states, the kingdoms of Aram-Damascus, Ammon, Moab and Edom all existed during the time of David and Solomon, and for a long time after, but an Israeli propaganda map always has to show the wishful thinking of an aggressive state that then, as now, invaded all its neighbours.

It’s a shame that the rabid Jew haters feel a need to spend endless hours scouring the web for material to support their hate. They will even scour someone’s personal blog to support their hatreds.

You know, one of the downsides to the web is that it can become a playground for conspiracy theorists, whack jobs and other, how shall we say… "less than discriminating" types who scour the web in feverish attempts to find something, anything to support a conspiracy or their hatreds.

My gripe with the kingdom of Israel is they didn't finish the job they were supposed to do. That's why we have this clusterfuck going on with the Palisimians.

Jos,

Here is another recent book about the Israel Myth, by an Israeli Historian.

Schlomo Sand, The Invention of the Jewish People

Book Description, I read:

A historical tour de force that demolishes the myths and taboos that have surrounded Jewish and Israeli history, The Invention of the Jewish People offers a new account of both that demands to be read and reckoned with. Was there really a forced exile in the first century, at the hands of the Romans? Should we regard the Jewish people, throughout two millennia, as both a distinct ethnic group and a putative nation—returned at last to its Biblical homeland?

Shlomo Sand argues that most Jews actually descend from converts, whose native lands were scattered far across the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The formation of a Jewish people and then a Jewish nation out of these disparate groups could only take place under the sway of a new historiography, developing in response to the rise of nationalism throughout Europe. Beneath the biblical back fill of the nineteenth-century historians, and the twentieth-century intellectuals who replaced rabbis as the architects of Jewish identity, The Invention of the Jewish People uncovers a new narrative of Israel’s formation, and proposes a bold analysis of nationalism that accounts for the old myths

The Indestructible Jews
by Max I. Dimont

A compelling and readable account of the four thousand year history of a people that spans the globe and transcends the ages. From the ancient and simple faith of a small tribe to a global religion with adherents in every nation, the path of the Jews is traced through countless expulsions and migrations, the great tragedy of the Holocaust, and the joy of founding a homeland in Israel. Putting the struggle of a persecuted people into perspective, Max Dimont asks whether the tragic sufferings of the Jews have actually been the key to their survival, as other nations and races vanished into obscurity. Here is a book for Jews and non-Jews to enjoy, evoking a proud heritage while offering a hopeful vision of the future.

Roudy,

The problem with your source is that it is relying on religious writings as history. And this is a faulty premise to begin with. Pages below all reference Bible stories and figures as Historical.

And, by the way, the source I referenced in my last post to prove the Mythology woven by the present day nation of Israel, is written by an Israeli Jewish Professor and Historian, who still lives there. Would you call him a Jew hating Jew? Just curious about that.

One Myth addressed by Shlomo Sand is the migration of the Jews from Egypt, led by Moses. If there had really been a group as large as was depicted in the Old Testament wandering around a desert for 40 years, there would be evidence uncovered of their presence in that desert, and no such evidence has ever been brought forward into the light. Truth is always brought into the Light, that is not true of Myths.

I find it interesting that everyone who criticizes Israel, is labeled a "jew-hater", yet you can't name one reason why that is. Why would someone hate a group of people, that has nothing to do with their daily life? Jews have zero affect in my life, so why would I hate them?

You just call people "jew-haters" as a way to avoid debating the topic. That's all it is. Just a cowardly way of avoiding the truth.

Interesting comment! So no doubt you have citations from contemporary historians of the earthquake in Jerusalem and the eclipse visible from Jerusalem and vicinity on a certain Friday in the early/mid 30's CE? Oh, and some accounts by Romans in the area talking about the dead leaving their tombs and wandering the streets of Jerusalem?

What are you talking about now, idiot? There are millions of Jews that read and practice from the same Old Testament. They didn't "just come to be", they SURVIVED all these thousands of years, their culture, identity, and traditions INTACT. Read the book first and then speak. The book describes the physical and historical factual journey of the Jewish people. There are thousands upon thousands of artifacts and archeological sites in Israel With Hebrew inscription proving the existence of the Jewish people and the land of Israel. How many do Arabs have? NONE. The record of what happened to the Jews are also confirmed by the independent historical accounts of ancient Greece, Rome, and Persia.

All your squirming is meaningless drivel obtained from a hate site. There isn't a single correct fact in that article. If you read some of the other articles on that same garbage site it becomes quite clear what it is.

Incidentally, there's a simple 'answer' to all the commotion about the Exodus: just reduce the numbers!

loinboy,

I think about the Samaritans, they were the offspring of Jews and others in the land, who lived in Samaria when Jesus lived there. There are still Samaritans there. The reality is, that there has been intermarriage between people in the land of Palestine for thousands of years. The Palestinians are the descendants of the Israelites, too, as well as others, and if there are unfulfilled promises of God left to be fulfilled from the Old Testament, which I really doubt, they are the recipients of those promises as much as any other Israeli desecendants are. I really think the new promises about the land, after Jesus coming, are expressed in His words in the Sermon on the Mount, He said the meek would inherit the land. He does not say meek Jews, meek Christians, or meek Gentiles, He simply says it is the meek who will inherit the land. I think about Elias Chacour's childhood, Jews and Muslims and Christians living out their lives, ordinary people living side by side in peace, that was before the events of 1947 and subsequent. Could it be the answer to the conflict is as simple as choosing nonviolence over violence, that choosing nonviolence is choosing the Way of God? And those that make that choice, the meek, will inherit the land?

Take the OT away and what significance does the NT have? Assuming everything from the OT was subtracted. To me the OT is the technical manual, the NT is the drivers handbook. My comparison.
