Journalist, 12, faces off with police officer who threatened to arrest her

Now Hilde is making headlines of her own once again, after she filmed an Arizona town marshal, Joseph Patterson, threatening her. In the feisty exchange, she repeatedly asks the officer why he threatened to throw her in juvenile prison and what crime she had supposedly committed.

Patterson incorrectly tells her that it would be illegal for her to post a video of the exchange online. It’s a first amendment right to film and publish exchanges with law enforcement. Patterson has since been disciplined by local officials.

Fair play. This girl is going places.

It benefits the officer and civilians if all interactions are taped. The officer knew what he was doing was wrong and his threat was in the hope of intimidating the young girl...

She doesn't want local law enforcement doxxed....she definitely won't be working for CNN or far left sources.

It looks like they have some training issues in that police force.

Cops are used to lying to people, and get upset when those people don't abide by their made up rules.

No such thing as a 12 year old journalist.

No one cares what a child has to say

When I was 12 I was playing video games

When I was 12, video games hadn't yet really come into the awareness or access of mainstream society. Crude video games had existed since some time in the late 1940s, but it wasn't really until the mid 1970s, by which time I was well into my teens, that video games really became a thing.

And by the way, when I was your age, exaggerated claims about stuff that hadn't been invented yet, hadn't been invented yet.

Normally I would argue... But I have come to the conclusion that since surveillance of every kind is here to stay it should probably become SOP for law enforcement.

I think there are many training issues at many law enforcement agencies. Would you not agree? Do they have training issues in Wales.

Prison or a cemetery, possibly, if she keeps pissing off the local thugs.

The officer was out of line however having said that there's no way I can condone
a 12 year old having a flippant disrespectful attitude towards law enforcement.

What Lefty thinks is cute will morph into a general personal rebellion against all wisdom and guidance and bite them in the ass.

This girl will grow up to be a library, just for the fun of it because she has no foundation upon which to respect the arrangement is being encouraged to disrespect it which is very stupid of her parents.

Yeah....... Talk texted and unchecked... But you have a point.

Here it is again..

This girl will grow up to be a rebel just for the fun of it because she has no foundation upon which to respect the arrangement and is being actively encouraged to disrespect it which is very stupid of her parents.
