Jon Huntsman compares GOP to Communist Party in China

keep making that party smaller cons .

Its good for the country

Keep making stupid statements. It's good for your ego.

do you grow a party by freezing its platform in a right wing manner and kicking out anyone who doesnt buy the old frozen platform?

You are forcing people to accept old failed ideas or leave the party.

what do you think it will get you?

How do you feel about belonging to a party that has purged all the Democrats of old and is now run by Progressives-Communist?

Huntsman spoke candidly about his party's flaws...

He was asked why he did pander to the Republican extremists the way Romney and the other candidates have...

a "conservative" Republican former governor with an 80% approval rating...

See? I can agree with Republicans. Depends on whether or not they are telling the truth, like Jon Huntsman was on this issue...

Oh, and Jon was "booted" from a Republican event for talking "off script".

Why didn't you vote for Huntsman since you agree with him, believe he is candid, does not pander, truthful & a great leader?

Oh - That's right. Because you are the lying propagandist sack of shit rdean who is in love with his lying propagandist idol Obama!

And Huntsman was ONCE a Republican...Leave it to deany NOT to look into why?

Anyone who knows Mitt will laugh out loud at the typical Norquist miscalculation. Romney will not cede anything to the ryanistas. He will dominate them, cut their patronage, cut their fund raising, and raise up primary alternates in 2014 if they think they can cross him. What a bunch of fools.

Not quite. The republicans and their norquist following have voted lock step with their signing the pledge agreement.
Romney is another follower.

Huntsman should LEAVE the Republican party if that is the way he feels..

and move to China

I saw the same interview and it was very good.

John Huntsman was generally in line with the GOP, but he does not like what he thinks are extremes.

It was nothing like what RDEAN has crapped out. He selectively puts out the worst and leaves the other 95% unsaid.

RDEAN should move to China, they are looking for more Rickshaw drivers.

Ummm, I don't know about him, but personally, I didn't vote for Huntsman because:

1) I'm not a registered Republican, and can't vote in the primary.

2) He was forced to drop out of the primary before he even got to my state.

Hope that helps.

During an event at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, Huntsman spoke candidly about his party's flaws, lamenting the Republican National Committee's decision to rescind an invitation to a major fundraising event after Huntsman called for a third-party candidate to enter the race.

"This is what they do in China on party matters if you talk off script," Huntsman said.

Huntsman, however, did not actively campaign in Iowa, telling CBS News in December that "they pick corn," not presidents, in that early caucus state.

Jon Huntsman Criticizes Republican Party, Compares Actions To Communist China

So I'm watching Morning Joe and Jon Huntsman was asked about his comments. He said they were taken totally out of context. He said, "All I said was that in Communist China, if you go off script you get booted". Not sure how saying it nearly exactly the same the second time makes the context any different.

Then it got worse. He was asked why he did pander to the Republican extremists the way Romney and the other candidates have and he said his wife told him that if he signed any of those silly pledges, she would leave him. Pretty sure that was a nod to "Grover Norquist".

Hmmm, the Communist Party. And it's a "conservative" Republican former governor with an 80% approval rating that said it.

See? I can agree with Republicans. Depends on whether or not they are telling the truth, like Jon Huntsman was on this issue.

Then they (Joe and Jon) went on talking about the Republican Response to Katrina, the Iraq fiasco, Enron, the ruined economy and all the other Republican disasters. And why we should consider a third party.

Oh, and Jon was "booted" from a Republican event for talking "off script". Didn't see THAT coming. Uh huh!

I will simply refer you to another thread where a PEW research poll shows that Dems are ill-informed about what Republicans stand for. That is exactly why we get uniformed pieces like this.

The moderate spineless wing of the GOP made their choice to back Mitt long before any straw polls and primaries were conducted. John was trapped in a void he could not escape, that of being too liberal for the GOP, and not moderate enough to gain favor, especially with all Mitt's money and party machinery in the way. The party platform is now that of progressive compassionate conservatism, Massachusetts style. So you have a choice, plug your nose and accept Mitt, don't vote, or accept 4 more years of pure bullshit! The best that can be hoped for is the GOP takes control of both houses and forces who ever is elected to address the financial mess we face.

True, Dean did put his spin on it.

Personally, I actually like Huntsman.

His comment about China was clearly a reference to their resistance to different ideas being included. Not that the Republican party was like the Communist party.

It's like saying someone is a "Soup Nazi":

You're not actually saying that they serve soup, invade Poland, and kill 6 million Jews. You're saying that they are strict dictators about soup serving.

Of course, the press made it into a major issue, because the press is a bunch of horse's asses.

Apparently today's talking heads don't have the capacity to grasp nuance.

WHY did Huntsman ENTER the Republican RACE if this was in his heart?

Could be many reasons.

Apparently he thought the Republican party was more in line with his ideals when he started running...

And then found out rather quickly that they were not, which caused him to question why he was a part of said party.

That seems like a pretty reasonable attitude to take to me.

The more fool you. Watch.

Could be he thought he had a chance to be a REAGAN in his choice of locations...and got pissed when no one bit upon it...got no traction.

Face it? HE tired to portray himself as another Reagan.

*FAIL*

Every single Republican candidate in the past 3 election cycles have "tried to portray themselves as another Reagan".

I would say, based on political positions on various issues alone, that Huntsman was closer than most to Reaganism.

Reagan became a great president after his legacy was rewritten in the late 90's.

How Republicans created the myth of Ronald Reagan - Bill Clinton

Huntsman doesn't KNOW what party he belongs to. Give it up Rderp.

The Reagan shit didn't work...

He's frustrated...and SO are you.

*FAIL* All around for the BOTH of you as a consolation prize.

It’s always interesting when republicans/conservatives slip-up and inadvertently tell the truth.

Of course it’s not as if this were some deep, dark ‘secret.’

The authoritarianism of the right is well-known and well-established.

I hate to break it to you but Coulter has been a Romney supporter since the primaries started.

If you don't believe me, you can check out her columns.

Okay. But two years ago, she said if Chris Christy doesn't run, and we go with Romney, he'll lose.
