Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey called out a group of special operations veterans for wading into politics with a video claiming President Barack Obama has taken too much credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden. “If someone uses the uniform, whatever uniform it is, for partisan politics, I’m disappointed by that, because I think it does erode that bond of trust that we have with the American people,”

:clap2::clap2:

Scott Taylor, one of the former Navy SEALs in the group, defended the video to Fox News’ Greta van Susteren on Tuesday, saying of Dempsey: “He’s active duty, we are not. We’re now citizens and we have a First Amendment right to be able to speak out, and we feel as though we’re doing the right thing.”
he can whine all he wants, he cannot stop them.

Uh, he shouldn't say squat about Vets doing this or that, it is none of his concern and authority.

In fact, he has tainted his office playing politics speaking out FOR Obamination and should be relieved of command. His job is to stay out of politics, not defend Obamination from critics upholding their right to Freedom of Speech.

Obama dishonors the uniform and he hasn't even served. When one claims credit for the work of our military, and when one puts political point scoring above national security by leaking details that should remain secret, then one leaves oneself open to criticism by those whose lives you have put at risk. These SpecOps Vets speak because those who are still serving cannot. Good for them.

They do not speak for anyone but themselves.

I know a lot of active duty that they are speaking for. :eusa_whistle:

He has a right to freedom of speech also and he is saying what they are doing is eroding the trust between the military and the American people. Those retired or in uniform, should not use the uniform to erode that trust.

So in your book its okay for the vets in this video to speak out and not for the general who is trying to be neutral by not commenting on the validity of their charges. Gotcha'.

BTW, your and others' responses here about the general are exactly what he's talking about. Now you don't like him or trust him as a military leader--exactly what he was getting at. Pitting the citizens against factions in the military is not a good idea!

As CJCS he is the military advisor to the POTUS, not to Vets, not to the general public, etc.

He should not talk down to average Americans, especially retired Vets; he is not their supervisor, their daddy, etc.

He doesn't even command the troops, that is the Combatant Commanders.

I doubt the Department of Energy, FBI, CIA, etc would like him talking to them about what they do or say, so he should quickly figure out people no longer in the military don't take orders from him.

The vets are acting stupidly.

obama rejects the notion that these men fought for the right to criticize the president just as he had the right to criticize the president himself when he was a candidate.

Actually asshole, Bush wore a flight suit while serving as a fighter pilot.

You didn't even serve a minute, yet claim Bush can't wear a flight suit.....you are fucking insane.

FYI...Obamination wears an Air Force flight leather jacket and never logged one minute flying a plane.

Of course not. :eusa_whistle:

He is violating his position picking sides. He should just remain quiet.

He has no authority telling Vet Joe Schmoe that they can't oppose Obamination or support Obamination.

If I went out in uniform to counter anti-military nuts like you protesting outside the base during OIF, I'd be big trouble. Being a 4-star doesn't mean he can do it from behind a TV camera, in fact he is worse doing it from his position.

This thread isn't about Bush, oh left wing extremist one. It's about Obama... in case you needed reminding.

Yeah, breaking out the Halloween costume and being a pretend pilot is beyond the pale for a president!
