One of those refusals would have significantly shut the vital areas of government down. That would be bad for the air controllers, fire departments, police, military, national parks, although rather good for criminals, drug lords, rapists, and hospitals. That may not seem important to some Americans, but it could be to those who take these kinds of protections for granted, not knowing what "shutting the government completely down" would actually do.

I am a conservative, but not to the point of anarchy. Neither is Speaker Boehner. I support John Boehner. He is not just a good Speaker, he is a thoroughly good human being. And I rest my case.
