John Boehner and Republicans want YOU to pick up BP's Tab

Very simply:

Statism is collectivism. It is a system of the government having unlimited power over the individual.

Government, ipso facto, is statism.

Read and understand the Constitution to find the answer to your concerns.

You clearly have either never read The Constitution or do not grok it if you have.

In either case, how sad for you.

The sadness is on behalf of the willfully uninformed, which is you, boedicca. You clearly do not understand the Constitution, our country's greatness, that people are more important than business, and that we live in a social compact, whether you believe it or not. Sad for you.

I understand it just fine. It's designed to limit government power and protect individual rights. That is not Statism, although Progressivism has been doing everything it can for decades to pervert it into just such a system.

But thank you for playing.

Your definition is false, Boedicca, and, no, you don't get to have your own truth with its own definitions. To suggest that government never has a role to play in the dynamics of social mobility and wealth creation beggars reason and makes good men and women stare.

Statism is the dynamic of how government policies affect the body politic, individuals as well as entities. Bush's statist policies generally failed (World Trade Towers, failure to capture Osama and stabilize Afghanistan, an unnecessary war in Iraq that depleted our armed forces and treasure and civilian morale, ineffectiveness in response to Katrina, and so on so forth). Reagan's form of statism, for instance, led directly to our current immigration reform issues, national security problems on the borders, and renegagde businesses that willfully break employment laws.

You truly need to do some reading, along with Dude and some others here. Libertarianism is a failure of economic and political philosophy. You are as much as deluded dreamers as were Marx and Engels.
