would have been around 580 if a redciever hadn't dropped a pass

Back when 400 yard games were UNHEARD OF

SHOULD HAVE WON THE HEIESMAN

Had a prtety good NFL career

Wasn't as good as Montana or Rice or McDougcal

or Nivana or Pearl Janm

So you might say - so What???????????

Back then then 200 yard games were huge - 300 yardgames gigantic, 400 yard games off the wall

Joe T threw for 526 yards Defeafeated #1Texas 24-11 in the Cotton Boel

Very credible NFL career....................... Maybe HOF

Not to bash Jim Plunkett.

A deserving Heisman winner. '70 was a toss-up between him and Joe T.

Best QB Stanford has ever had.

Won 2 Super Bowls. Not always pretty.

Joe Theismann actually changed the pronunciation of his last name, so it would rhyme with "Heisman". Hence the famous "Theismann For Heisman" campaign.

Joe Theismann's last name was actually pronounced "Thees-mann" until he figured out he was a pretty good quarterback.

Theismann was a damn good quarterback, and he was MAYBE 6 feet tall. Very mobile with a decent arm. I'll never forget the game against the Giants when Lawrence Taylor snapped Theismann's leg. That pretty much ended Theismann's career.
