So Joe the Plumber is on Hannity and Colmes tonight and he's talking about how Obama's plan is socialism. Then Alan Colmes plays a tape of Sarah Palin talking about how Obama's tax credits to those who don't pay any taxes is socialism. So then they play a tape of McCain saying that he wants to give every working family a refundable $5000 tax credit. Alan Colmes then asks "Joe the Plumber" if McCain's policies of buying up $300 billion of bad mortgages and giving refundable tax credits to those didn't pay any taxes were socialist.

Joe responded "I don't really know all that much about socialism to be honest."

So this idiot who's talking about how Obama's plan is socialist, really has no idea of what socialism is.

Sarge? Are you really Joe the Plumber? Is that you del? Why do people use the "S" word and not even know what socialism is??

Re-distribution of wealth under socialism is the government setting a salary cap on someone and giving everyone ownership of the company, thus collective ownership. Everyone makes the same salary. Now forgive me for my ignorance, but when has Obama ever said that he's going to stop individuals from owning coroporations and setup collective ownership for them and give everyone, no matter what their responsibilities are, equal pay? Not equal pay as in, different genders make the same money, equal pay as in EVERYONE in the government owned corporation makes the same salary and pays the same taxes, no matter what your education level, no matter what your experience level, no matter your age.

Someone please show me when Obama has suppoted this?

His beliefs about universal healthcare are socialistic - state or collective ownership and administration.

According to Michael Newman, a significant authority on socialism, all socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.

Cons, please read something other than NewsMax.

Neither he nor any Democratic candidate in history has advocated government ownership of the healthcare industry.

All the government would do, would be to pay the bills. Or use a middleman like an insurance company to pay the bills. That's exactly how Bush and Cheney's excellent government-financed healthcare works.

Nobody has ever talked about the government taking ownership of hospitals and clinics, nor turning doctors and nursed into government employees. They would remain private entities. All government would do would be to facillitate a financial transaction and make sure the doctor gets paid.

Then we already are a socialistic country with social security, Medicare, and state health insurance for the poor. All Obama wants to do is offer people a new choice in healthcare. McCain wants to help us pay for it... I'd venture to say that's more socialistic than Obama's.

True socialism advocates giving everyone the same salary because everyone collectively and equally owns the business.

Obama's plan is a lot like the Hawaii plan, which lasted 7 months as all the employers dumped private coverage and let the state pick up the health insurance tab instead.

It is sometimes difficult to determine who is more liberal: Obama or McCain. It's sad for the Republicans when Hillary's voting record is more conservative than McCain's. Still, McCain is more conservative than Obama, but not by much. Joe the Plumber makes a good point, but he doesn't have a major candidate to support.

He needs to vote himself. He will at least have 2 votes !
