Some folks that never crossed the lines don't know how Marino played withand through injuries almost his entire career.
Nothing against Montana but he played with a different scheme, system, front office, coaching staff, training staff and owner than Marino did.
In the pro game that is HUGE.
Just ask Archie Manning. The ONLY NFL MVP from a losing team. Put Archie on a Steelers or that 49ers team in that era he would have gone down as the best QB EVER. Put TB on a Buc team and he would have washed out in 4 years.
NFL, Not For Long.

So what did Marino do?

Threw 147 more TD passes than Montana and almost 21,000 more yards. Also has about 1,600 more completions.

Just saying.

Marino tops Montana in the all-time best quarterbacks list. Sorry, pal.

along with stinking up the joint in the superbowl losss against the 49ers and also in the AFC Championship defeat stinking up the joint as well then in that defeat.Montana kept his cool under pressure in big games.Marino never did.Montana wins.case closed.

Never understood how Montnana got jersy #16 with the 49ers.

May have been because he wasn't drafted until th 3rd round.

IMO - should have got the Heisman trophy

But thats all water under thebridge

Yeah I remember seeing a game here in my town when Marino started the game and was hurt.the thing is though he was like Brett Favre.Just like Favre has hurt his team this year by playing injured doing them more harm than good,so did Marino. In that game Marino played that he was suppose to miss because of injurys,he did that team much more harm than good by playing being very inneffective which is what Favre has done this year, playing through pain but doing the team more harm by doing so because he has been so inneffective.not wise.wasnt wise for Marino to play when injured either.

Yeah, Marino was very innefective and Montana wasn't.
Marino throws for 61,000 yards and Montana throws for 40,000 yards but Montana was the more effective QB.

With technology and training they just gets better and better.
Different era's produce different levels of talent.
Bart Starr was the best of the best in the 50's and 60's....but couldn't be rated with what they're producing later on.

A few athletes transcend that. Joe Namath was one of those guys, the greatest QB ever.

LOL!!!!! Brother, you have got to be either drunk, high or fucking retarded when it comes to football.

Not only is Joe Namath not the greatest quarterback of all-time but he was mediocre at best. Furthermore, Namath shouldn't even be in the Hall of Fame. Namath is the most overrated quarterback to ever play.

Let's take a looksie at Namath's career stats.

Touchdowns - 173
Interceptions - 220
Yards - 27,663
QB Rating - 65.5
Completions - 1,886

Pretty fucking unimpressive. Those are mediocre stats and certainly not worthy of the Hall of Fame. Hell, Craig Morton has better stats than Namath.

Joe Namath is in the Hall because he predicted a Super Bowl win and dressed flashy. That is it. End of fucking story.

Sorry, pal. Broadway Joe will best be known for this.

And Montana had Atlanta, New Orleans and the Rams TWICE each year on his schedule in SF.
I know, I saw him play every year here in Atlanta.
