Joblessness during prime working years worst in 23 years

Since the overall UE rate is down and CON$ervoFascists cannot tolerate that, they have to find some subgroup that will give them a stat to whine about, mind you these hypocrites say they don't group people, everyone is an individual, except of course when they see groups.

In this case it's actually a legitmate inquiry. A large part of the drop in the UE rate has been a drop in the Labor Force. Part of that drop is an aging population and more retirees, and people staying in school (and not getting or looking for part time jobs). But a good chunk is coming from 25-54 year olds and that's worthwhile to look at.
Except the number who actually WANT a job in that age group has gone DOWN from 2,879,000 in April 2011 to 2,631,000 in April 2012.

A-38. Persons not in the labor force by desire and availability for work, age, and sex

True, but from 2002 to 2011 the number Not in the Labor Force, want a job now increased, and so did the number of Discouraged for the 25-54 age group. It is starting to go down in the last year, which is a good sign, but still that emphasizes that that age group is an important sub-set to watch.
