Supporters of Barack Obama point to the overall jobless rate and its slow decline to argue that his economic policies have worked, and just need more time to bring back widespread prosperity.
Opponents point to U-6 numbers and the actual number of net jobs created in his term (hint: less than zero) to argue that Obamanomics has been a failure. Who has the better argument? Consider a new analysis from the Washington Post, which shows just how bad the jobs situation has been all along:

This captures the “missing workers” phenomenon, which the topline jobless rate ignores, and shows how poorly this recovery has performed. Even if one counts from the beginning of the recovery rather than from the beginning of Obama’s term, we have added 3.087 million private-sector jobs in the last 34 months, for an average of 90,079 jobs added per month — too low to keep up with population growth, which adds around 120,000 workforce-eligible adults each month. We aren’t even really treading water but falling behind slightly over that period.

As Peter Whoriskey hints, this has significant long-term implications for the American economy and policy, emphasis mine:

What the article fails to mention, of course, is that the percentage of people age 25-54 who are Not in the Labor Force and do NOT want a job has also increased. Yes, unemployment is up, and yes, Discouragement is up, but so are people CHOOSING not to work.

Since the overall UE rate is down and CON$ervoFascists cannot tolerate that, they have to find some subgroup that will give them a stat to whine about, mind you these hypocrites say they don't group people, everyone is an individual, except of course when they see groups.

In this case it's actually a legitmate inquiry. A large part of the drop in the UE rate has been a drop in the Labor Force. Part of that drop is an aging population and more retirees, and people staying in school (and not getting or looking for part time jobs). But a good chunk is coming from 25-54 year olds and that's worthwhile to look at.

what did you expect? Obama had already made it clear that he hates America, and purposely collapsed the system so that he and his chicago thugs could have power to control us,,,,,yet 40-45% of Americans cant figure this out. He even admitted that none of the stimulus was to help small business.

Once you understand that when Obama talked about "Change" he didn't mean for the better, it will all make sense.

He laughed off the Failed Stimulus that Corzine put together for him and Biden, what did you think was supposed to happen?
