Jimmy Carter?

Reagan did the honorable thing and removed those marxist solar panels stat! Using solar panels and alternative energy at the White House makes us look weak to middle East Terrorists and the Ruskies! Cutting imports of foreign oil makes us look weak! So Reagan fixed that right up.

Barack Obama: 'no' to solar panels on the White House roof

Campaigner Bill McKibben says solar panels would demonstrate presidential leadership on climate change

I bet Shaman thinks Carter was a nuclear engineer and ran a nuclear sub, too. 'Cuz, that's what others have told him.
....And, none of that could be possible, 'cause you 'Baggers don't want it to be.
Lt. Carter never ran a nuclear sub (lieutenants don't get commands of vessels too often ) nor is or was he a nuclear engineer.

Cold, hard facts are not your friend either.
Yeah.....whatta shame he couldn't be one o' those big, bad "conservative"-icons!!

"According to Gary Wills’ book “John Wayne’s America,” the man who portrayed the archetypal, battle-hardened Marine, Sgt. Stryker, in 1949’s “The Sands of Iwo Jima,” actually avoided the draft during WWII. Wills contends that the Duke did not reply to letters from the Selective Service system, and applied for deferments. Apparently, Wayne—who had sought stardom during years of B-pictures following Raoul Walsh’s 1930 frontier drama “The Big Trail”—got his big break during the struggle against fascism when many Hollywood action heroes like Tyrone Power enlisted and shipped out overseas.

With much of the competition away in the Pacific and European theaters, Wayne was able to storm movie theaters to solidify his stardom. While Jimmy Stewart and his fellow celebrity servicemen were real action heroes, Wayne was a “Lights! Cameras! Action!” hero who merely played the part in the safety of Tinseltown’s home front and back lot.

Director John Ford discovered Wayne when he was on USC’s football team, and with his rugged physique, the 6-foot-4-inch Duke was identified with American machismo.

Wayne was a vocal conservative, and his critics contend that the onscreen “Injun killer” was racist off-screen. In an infamous 1971 Playboy magazine interview, the Duke made insensitive comments about blacks and said this about America’s indigenous people: “I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them. Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.”

Although he often was paired on screen with Irish redhead Maureen O’Hara, Wayne’s three marriages were all to Latinas. According to San Antonio-born actress Karen Kramer, who’d worked with Duke in 1954’s “The High and the Mighty,” while Wayne was shooting “The Alamo” near her hometown, he asked Kramer to accompany third wife Pilar when she shopped there. “She was Hispanic, you know,” Kramer said in an interview. “Texas was very reactionary and Duke was afraid she’d be maligned” unless the blond actress rode shotgun for Mrs. Wayne.

A virulent anti-communist, Wayne was president of the right-wing Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals and cheered the Hollywood blacklist during the House Un-American Activities Committee’s purge of entertainment industry leftists.

An outspoken hawk during the Vietnam War, Wayne co-directed and starred in the Pentagon-subsidized propaganda picture “The Green Berets.” Duke denounced antiwar protesters, reportedly saying: “As far as I’m concerned, it wouldn’t bother me a bit to pull the trigger on one of ‘em

Wayne was, in reality, a draft dodger. America’s archetypal soldier was in fact a chicken hawk. He was a cheerleader and champion of militaristic patriotism and combat he had never experienced. Wayne had “other priorities” during WWII—achieving superstardom (and saving his neck) was more important than defeating fascism. Much like Vice President Dick Cheney, who sought numerous deferments during the Vietnam War, Wayne was the quintessential war wimp."

And that still does not make Lt. Carter a nuclear engineer or one who ran a nuclear sub.

As I said, cold, hard facts are not your friend, either.

Carter set the wheels in motion that sent this country into a ruinous energy policy from which we'll never recover. His administration coined the phrases "Big Oil", "Evil Oil", and the best of all "Windfall Profits".

The Windfall Profits Tax was not a tax, nor was it based on any semblence of profit calculation. It was a confiscation of private property. Domestic oil production fell, imports rose, and hundreds of thousands lost their jobs in the oil and gas sector.

The pathetic thing is, we're hearing this all over again with Obama.

I hate him.

.....And, BP VERIFIED Carter's psychic-abilities.

Carter was an evangelical. Reagan never stepped foot in a church, and he let gays sleep together at the White House, and he had the most liberal abortion policy in US history as governor of California (when he could have easily prevented it).

Reagan used social conservatism in order to break the New Deal coalition and steal the south from its 40 year liberal hegemony.

After Reagan died, Grover Norquist and handful of neoliberals created the Reagan legacy project. Their goal was to erase the famous Reagan deficits from history and erase the never-talked-about Reagan debt, as well as solidifying Reagan as a social conservative (in order to keep cash cropping naive bible thumpers -- naive because they go into the voting booth to fight abortion, but they come out with the Iraq war). Reagan is also responsible for the illegal immigration problem in California, establishing amnesty for more illegals than any other single politician in the state's history. Republican voters don't get it: the Father of Conservatism was Machiavellian opportunist whose sole purpose was to expand the corporate control of government.

How do Conservatives keep this shell game alive? By running against their manufactured version of Jimmy Carter for 30 years.

Carter predicted that our energy policy would leave us trapped in the Middle East, facing military and oil costs that would eventually bankrupt us. He didn't want to abandon oil, he just wanted us to slowly move toward a less petrol intensive system -- so that rising gas prices didn't destroy the economy. Reagan framed him as a crazy liberal trying to control the economy. He told America not to worry about energy, and he upped the military ante in the middle east. He dug our grave.

As much into the occult/witchcraft as "conservatives" are, I'm assuming they think Jimmy Carter must have been psychic.

"The White House has been hesitant to chide the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries -- source of more than a third of the world's oil -- even as the average U.S. gasoline price this week hit a fresh record of $3.22 a gallon."

"Oil prices soared Wednesday as the dollar fell and the Energy Department issued a mixed report on the nation's fuel inventories. At the pump, gas prices rose to a new record over $4.05 a gallon.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/11/energy-department-report_n_106506.html"

A little help here from my conservative friends?

I have a buddy of mine who swears up and down Jimmy Carter was a "good man" and "the only honest president we've ever had" and "Jimmy Carter is a Christian"...

Anyone have links off-hand that show just what a nut-case Carter was/is?

I dunno if I'd classify him as a "nutcase". He certainly has made some fairly strange remarks about the Jews.. I think he is a fairly decent man, just very naive and foolish.

My.. you are a fuckin' troll. Could you be more off topic? You should channel the energy you expend on marking up your posts into the actual content of said posts.

Jimmy is still the favorite whipping boy of the pseudo-conservatives. The feud started when he forced G.W.H. Bush to resign from head of the CIA before Carter took office in 77. Then later Carter purged the "Cowboy" element (Bush supporters) from the CIA in the orginal October Suprise. But the CIA paid him back in spades. First lying to the WH about the health of the Shah and then giving them bad intel on the strenght of the opposition in Iran.

Carter told us what we didn't want to hear and was willing to make the hard choices for us to keep us from depending on foriegn sources of energy. Raygun (one of the orginal pseudo-conservatives) told us just what we wanted to hear, that everything was just fine, keep shopping. Rayguns legacy will be far worse that Carters.
