A former U.S. president is accusing the current president of sanctioning the “widespread abuse of human rights” by authorizing drone strikes to kill suspected terrorists...

Instead of making the world safer, America’s violation of international human rights abets our enemies and alienates our friends,” Carter wrote...

In addition to the drone strikes, Carter criticized the current president for keeping the Guantanamo Bay detention center open, where prisoners “have been tortured by waterboarding more than 100 times or intimidated with semiautomatic weapons, power drills or threats to sexually assault their mothers.”

The former president blasted the government for allowing “unprecedented violations of our rights to privacy through warrantless wiretapping and government mining of our electronic communications.”

He also blasted Obama's extraordinary rendition program.

Where is Code Pink?

Because of Obama...I wonder if Nobel Peace Prizes will be handed out based upon actions, rather than "just" words in the future.

Amazing... so this is now two past presidents who drop party line just before an election.

Rather funny that.

Carter criticized Bush for pretty much the same things.

He did indeed, where is the "Change" and the "Hope", I wonder? Or better yet all the democrats that were calling Bush a murderer and torturer when Bush was accused of such? Oh, that's right, seems it's only torture and murder when "Bush did it".

You know it has to be bad if Carter is rebuking Obama!! Yep!!

Carter was a failed President. He isnt in the loop nor does he have to face the political consequences of his statements. He was irrelevent when he spoke out against W. Bush and he is just as irrelevent now.

No its torture and murder when Obama does it too. Its just you righties are so busy screaming about birth certificates and secret plots against the 2nd amendment, you completely MISS the real issues like Obamas Kill list ( which is most likely an impeachable offense )

You really dont expect us to just HAND you the keys to Obamas loss to the Etch-a-Sketch do you?

Paint with a wide brush much? Again, where are all the people who were out in force against Bush when the same was said of him? All I hear is a eerie quiet and no shouts of murderer and torturer. Where are all the protestors?
