JFK stole the election in 1960

Kennedy quote - perhaps Obama should have applied this in the Iraq situation -

The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.

Kennedy -

The tax on capital gains directly affects investment decisions, the mobility and flow of risk capital... the ease or difficulty experienced by new ventures in obtaining capital, and thereby the strength and potential for growth in the economy.

A real Liberal, huh?

Kennedy -

There are many people in the world who really don't understand-or say they don't-what is the great issue between the free world and the Communist world. Let them come to Berlin!

IN mid-August, Walden W. O'Dell, the chief executive of Diebold Inc., sat down at his computer to compose a letter inviting 100 wealthy and politically inclined friends to a Republican Party fund-raiser, to be held at his home in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. ''I am committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year,'' wrote Mr. O'Dell, whose company is based in Canton, Ohio.

That is hardly unusual for Mr. O'Dell. A longtime Republican, he is a member of President Bush's ''Rangers and Pioneers,'' an elite group of loyalists who have raised at least $100,000 each for the 2004 race.

But it is not the only way that Mr. O'Dell is involved in the election process. Through Diebold Election Systems, a subsidiary in McKinney, Tex., his company is among the country's biggest suppliers of paperless, touch-screen voting machines.

Would havewon by a baremargin anyway

JFK was the man! A great, Conservative Catholic American. He wouldn't have a thing to do with today's Democrats.

why do republicans always try to claim that liberals are conservatives?

A Liberal Definition by JFK

Our responsibility is not discharged by announcement of virtuous ends. Our responsibility is to achieve these objectives with social invention, with political skill, and executive vigor. I believe for these reasons that liberalism is our best and only hope in the world today. For the liberal society is a free society, and it is at the same time and for that reason a strong society. Its strength is drawn from the will of free people committed to great ends and peacefully striving to meet them. Only liberalism, in short, can repair our national power, restore our national purpose, and liberate our national energies. And the only basic issue in the 1960 campaign is whether our government will fall in a conservative rut and die there, or whether we will move ahead in the liberal spirit of daring, of breaking new ground, of doing in our generation what Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and Adlai Stevenson did in their time of influence and responsibility.

The Peace Corps, The New Frontier programs, Nuclear test ban, a purely Keynesian-inspired tax cut from the nation's most Keynesian economic team, fostering and codifying government-enforced end to segregation of private businesses, spending billions to create government-funded scientific research with no clear social or private benefit...

That's what we now call "Conservative"?

You call this Progressive?

Israel was not created in order to disappear - Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom.

Eh, yes - I do find that rather progressive. Especially in the Kennedy's time when Israel was still a fledgling state.

the world gets more liberal every day.

The greater trend is towards liberalism.

The battles with the anchor people must be fought every day.

The anchor people are the cons.

They sling themselves on the boats anchor and heave themselves over the side of reason in an attempt to battel against the sails of the ship which is tacking in the direction of individual freedom.

we are the sails and they are the anchor.
