The land in 1948 belonged to Israel as per the UN resolution.

The five arab countries lost more land because of their aggresive, and barbaric, push to wipe Israel from the map.

They were the aggresors, they have no moral right to cry about lost land after they were the ones who made the unprovoked attack.

Again, the UN cut up the Middle East like a cake without thinking of the consequences. Yes, that land is now Israel. However, just because it is Israel does not give a country a right to push out whomever they like for no good reason. That goes against what the UN stands for.

For example, The Old Testament talks about if you rape a single woman, you have to marry her and give the family fifty pieces of silver.

"If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife."

If a man rapes an unbetrothed virgin, he must pay her father 50 shekels of silver and then marry her.

Now that's different... they were there before Hitler. But last I checked the palestinians were there before Isreal. That's just history.

German ancestors were in Germany before the Jews, but Jewish ancestors were in Israel before the Palestinians. National boundaries have never been truly stable, they shift constantly. Palestine/Israel was a subject area of the Ottomans, and the British claimed it after WWI. The British relocated Jews there beginning before WWII, and they managed the situation with typical colonial tact, by which it is understood the lack of anything resembling tact, which led to a lot of anger. After WWII, the British decided to let the Jews establish a state in the region. People got displaced and angrier.

Somehow, what would have been a clash between Cattlemen and Farmers in the Wild West, and hence settled after a few clashes, morphed into a religious war that has continued to this day. Some of the blame falls on the US and USSR who each backed one side of the clash, adding fuel and weapons to the fire. Some falls on Israel, for they have fallen into the fanatics' trap too often and responded with more force than absolutely essential.

But most of the guilt belongs to the terrorists and older clergy who see the waning power of radical Islam as a slap in their face. They don't want modernization as they fear, probably rightly, that it will lead to a radical change in Islam. Women may be given more freedom, and the most oppressive medieval laws will be repealed. What the old school reactionaries fail to understand is that their countries will continue to lag behind modern 1st world countries until the time that they can produce enough technicians and scientist to compete.
