Jewish exodus from Arab and Muslim lands

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish exodus from Arab and Muslim lands refers to the 20th century mass departure of Jews, primarily of Sephardi and Mizrahi background, from Arab and Islamic countries. The migration started in the late 19th century and peaked following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Between 800,000-1,000,000 Jews were expelled or left their homes in Arab countries due to persecution and antisemitism. Lebanon was the only Arab country to see an increase in its Jewish population after 1948 which was due to an influx of refugees from other Arab countries.[1] Another 200,000 Jews from non-Arab Muslim countries left due to increasing insecurity and growing hostility.

There are a lot of Facts the Israel Hating Jew Hating crowd likes to Ignore.

It would be nice if the Arabs did the same for thier refugees, Instead they keep them locked up in camps, Thier own people are kept in refugee camps what a joke:cuckoo:

You're asking that Arabs show compassion for their own brethren, as Jews do, which is not in Arab DNA.

To wit: 1400 years of Arab fratricide between Sunni and Shiite.

Wall Street Journal...
The Arab World's Dirty Secret".
As Israelis and Palestinians prepare to visit Washington next week to begin direct peace talks, it's worth recalling what refugees the Palestinians are—in Arab countries.

Last week, Lebanon's parliament amended a clause in a 1946 law that had been used to bar the 400,000 Palestinians living in the country from taking any but the most menial jobs. "I was born in Lebanon and I have never known Palestine," the AP quoted one 45-year-old Palestinian who works as a cab driver. "We want to live like Lebanese. We are human beings and we need civil rights."

The dirty little secret of the Arab world is that it has consistently treated Palestinians living in its midst with contempt and often violence. In 1970, Jordan expelled thousands of Palestinian militants after Yasser Arafat attempted a coup against King Hussein. In 1991, Kuwait expelled some 400,000 Palestinians working in the country as punishment for Arafat's support for Saddam Hussein in the first Gulf War.

For six decades, Palestinians have been forced by Arab governments to live in often squalid conditions so that they could serve as propaganda tools against Israel, even as millions of refugees elsewhere have been repatriated and absorbed by their host countries. This month's vote still falls short of giving Palestinian Lebanese the rights they deserve, including citizenship. But it's a reminder of the cynicism of so much Arab pro-Palestinian propaganda, and the credulity of those who fall for it.

During the 70's Portland got a huge number of Indochinese refuges.

They are doing quite nicely. They grumble a lot about anglo racism and bad jokes about what they like for suffer, but they have moved on.

About the only time they get noticed is around the time of buddist holidays, when they like to fly South Vietnamese flags.

During the late 40s Portland also got a large influx of jewish refuges from of all places, Japan. (Japan took in a large number of Polish jews between 1939 and 1940 because they felt the Germans were too barbaric.) They came in from Manchuria and Korea as well. They have mostly moved on.

And there were large numbers of refuges from various Central American Civil wars as well.

It is too bad the Arab states are more interested in keeping the problem than actually helping those in need.

Jews have been a made a scapegoat throughout our history. And sadly we will continue to be that.... That’s ok though, it keeps us strong.

I never knew that. No wonder there was an Anne Dinkens Kosher Restaurant in Tokyo.

Winston Churchill...
We owe to the Jews a system of ethics which, even if it were entirely separated from the supernatural, would be incomparably the most precious possession of mankind, worth in fact the fruits of all wisdom and learning put together.

Some people like Jews and some do not, but no thoughtful `person' can doubt the fact that they are beyond all question the most formidable and most remarkable race which has ever appeared in the world

The coming into being of a Jewish state in Palestine is an event in world history to be viewed in the perspective, not of a generation or a century, but in the perspective of a thousand, two thousand or even three thousand years" "This is an event in world history

Alexis de Toqueville...
Istudied the Koran a great deal. I came away from that study with the conviction there have been few religions in the world as deadly to men as that of Muhammad. So far as I can see, it is the principal cause of the decadence so visible today in the Muslim world and, though less absurd than the polytheism of old, its social and political tendencies are in my opinion to be feared, and I therefore regard it as a form of decadence rather than a form of progress in relation to paganism itself.

Winston Churchill...

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.

Israel did not exist before 1948. Palestine did. That simple fact alone tells you were justice lies in this matter!

“The population of Palestine, predominantly agricultural, was about 690,000 in 1914, 535,000 Muslims; 70,000 Christians, most of whom were Arabs; and 85,000 Jews." (Encyclopaedia Britannica).

There was no substantial Jewish population until after ww2 when Jews were 'imported'. Often wealthy Zionists financed them. Wealthy Zionists who incidentally, decided to remain were they where!

The Chinese have used similar tactics, massive immigration, to subjugate Tibet, a similar crime against humanity.

BAGHDAD, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The slaughter of dozens of Iraqi Christians held hostage in a Baghdad church seized by Islamist insurgents will accelerate the exodus of a Christian community that is one of the most ancient in the world.

Iraq's Christian communities -- the Assyrians and Chaldeans, along with smaller numbers of Armenians and others -- have practiced their faith since the days of Jesus Christ.

As many as 600,000, and probably more, have fled since the insurgency erupted following the March 2003 U.S. invasion that toppled Saddam.

But the trickle became a flood after Islamist extremists began systematically car-bombing churches in August 2004 and accusing Christians of collaborating with the Americans.

Iraq church horror speeds Christian exodus - UPI.com

Baghdad (AP) – Iraq has lost more than half the Christians who once called it home, mostly since the war began, and few who fled have plans to return, The Associated Press has learned

The situation holds practical implications for Iraq's future. Christians historically made up a large portion of the country's middle class, including key jobs as doctors, engineers, intellectuals and civil servants.

The last official Iraqi census in 1987 found 1.4 million Christians in the country. Now, according to the 2008 U.S. State Department report on International Religious Freedom, that number has dropped to between 550,000 and 800,000.

Some estimate the number is even lower: only 400,000, according to the German Catholic relief organization Kirche in Not. The number is echoed privately by many Iraqi Christians.

I wonder why no one on the right seems to care about Iraqi Christians? After all, it's their fault. Is it because Iraqi Christians aren't "real" Christians? Or are they too "brown"? Seems like American Christians just don't care.

Most of them are comming here so how do you figure Americans don't care about them?

Why should they have to come here? Why can't they stay in their historical homelands? Religion of peace and tolerance should leave them alone.

Israel did not exist before 1948.

Wrong, dummy.

Israel existed not once but twice in antiquity as the First and Second Temples.

Historical evidence substantiates Israel existed 3200 years ago.

Palestine did.

Wrong, again, dummy.

There are no references to Palestine in any ancient historical records
There are no references to Palestine in the Hebrew Bible, Christian Bible or the Quran.

The correct historical geographic name of the land is Canaan and Judea, as in land of the Jews.

Palestine was invented by the Romans, not Arabs, to rename Judea, where Jews had been living for 1500 years and 500 years before Arabs and Muslims even arrived.

Your history lesson for the day, dummy.

Oh the Islam of peace myth. Islam has always been at war with the west and will always continue to be, trade relations or not. Albania, parts of Pakistan and Kurdistan are the only areas with an Islamic religion actually at peace with the west, the rest of the Muslims are just in a state of undeclared war just waiting for when they are ready to strike the west again. :eusa_shhh:

Two centuries ago, without congressional or public debate, a president whom we think of today as peaceable, Thomas Jefferson, launched America's first war on foreign soil, a war against terror. The enemy was Muslim; the war was waged unconventionally, with commandos, native troops, and encrypted intelligence, and launched from foreign bases under short-term alliances.

For nearly two hundred years, the Barbary pirates had haunted the Mediterranean, enslaving tens of thousands of Europeans and extorting millions of dollars from their countries in a mercenary holy war against Christendom.

Yet the left still claims we started it, in truth the war began when the Muslim armies attacked, murdered and raped innocent civilians, pillaging from Africa, the Middle East, Asia to Europe, the Persian and Byzantine Empire's (and nearly the Indian Empire) were wiped from existence, and with them millions of people were enslaved under the tyranny of Islam.

I'm sorry. I didn't see your link proving that. Would you please re-post it?

I don't know where they are going either.

But if they are coming here, that would be cool. America always can use a few more brainy people.

Why does Rdean always think that when criminal A hurts person B, that Conservative republicans are at fault?

The exodus of Christians from Iraq, since most of them are part of the educated classes, will harm Iraq. that is cause for worry, as Iraq will be filled with little more than violent stupid folks.

Back to the topic.... Israel has always had an inclusive policy toward Jewish refuges. They are integrated in quickly. It is not without a bit of friction, as most of the arab land refugees are Likidnikim and are kind of pissed at the places they are refuges from.

The Arab treatment of the Palestinians is all the more nasty as it is against what is supposed to be standard religious practice in these lands, which is to treat the refugee kindly. It would be more in the interests of the arab states to treat their refuges more like Israel treats its refugees. Israel has propsered because of how Israel treats its diaspora. The palestinian camps are festering sores of crime, unemployment and revolution.
