When Jesus started to preach they had a legitimate concern as to his mental condition. This incident, rather than later claims that his family believed in his message, shows that no miracles surrounded his birth.

Now your presents some very delicate questions. Who, or by what authority, is there a messiah for "other people"?
Also, why is there a scholarly insistance to focus on Judaic text to justify this "Messiah for other people".

Actually, modern day asylums are chocked full of people who believe they are a god, the second coming, a messiah. What makes them nuts but not Jesus?

Guno, if you would read the Bible you'd know the chronology of the prophesies you mentioned. They're end time prophesy. And He will indeed fulfill them. The Jews will recognize Him as the Messiah, and He will live among them forever. There was not then nor is there now any reason to believe His mental state is anything other than perfect, Him being Emanuel and all.

Jesus Did Not Fulfill the Messianic Prophecies
What is the Messiah supposed to accomplish? One of the central themes of biblical prophecy is the promise of a future age of perfection characterized by universal peace and recognition of God. (Isaiah 2:1-4, 32:15-18, 60:15-18; Zephaniah 3:9; Hosea 2:20-22; Amos 9:13-15; Micah 4:1-4; Zechariah 8:23, 14:9; Jeremiah 31:33-34)
Specifically, the Bible says he will:
If an individual fails to fulfill even one of these conditions, then he cannot be the Messiah.
- Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28).
- Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6).
- Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4)
- Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world ― on that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9).
Because no one has ever fulfilled the Bible's description of this future King, Jews still await the coming of the Messiah. All past Messianic claimants, including Jesus of Nazareth, Bar Cochba and Shabbtai Tzvi have been rejected.
Christians counter that Jesus will fulfill these in the Second Coming. Jewish sources show that the Messiah will fulfill the prophecies outright; in the Bible no concept of a second coming exists.
Messiah as Prophet
The Messiah will become the greatest prophet in history, second only to Moses. (Targum - Isaiah 11:2; Maimonides - Yad Teshuva 9:2)
Prophecy can only exist in Israel when the land is inhabited by a majority of world Jewry, a situation which has not existed since 300 BCE. During the time of Ezra, when the majority of Jews remained in Babylon, prophecy ended upon the death of the last prophets ― Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi.
Jesus appeared on the scene approximately 350 years after prophecy had ended, and thus could not be a prophet.

But on the matter of your insulting Jesus with such nonsense, there were some Jewish leaders who feared the Jews would leave their control and find freedom in Christ who came to fulfill the law and so they made it their lifes ambition to stop His teachings - the Gospel of Jesus Christ - from going forward. Now that didn't work out that well because The Jewish early church - and Paul who preached to the Gentiles although he too was a Jew - spread the Gospel far and wide and today it is still being preached.
Granted Christ has been seriously misrepresented by the prosperity preachers and those preaching a wide road gospel but Jesus said the laborers are few. Just who do you believe are His true followers anyhow? The Laborers. That's who. Was Jesus Mentally Ill
Hadn't heard about this but puts something else I'd wondered about into context. The Military Channel had a slew of documentaries about Jesus painting him as a doomsday prophet more so than his typical depiction. First time I'd ever heard him refered to like that and it stands out as curious. But if there are people actually proposing he was nuts then it makes more sense.
In the Infancy Gospels (apocrypha) Jesus kills 3 or 4 people. 3 deliberately, 1 he got blamed for the death of a childhood playmate who fell from the roof. Cute story actually, to prove his innocent Jesus ressurects the kid to tesitfy as to it being an accident.

"A SUGGESTED sermon produced by the Church of England for clerics attempting to tackle the stigma of mental health pulls no punches.
Written by the Rev Eva McIntyre on behalf of the Church’s Archbishops’ Council and the Time to Change mental health campaign, it suggests John the Baptist, St Paul, St Francis and other figures from the Bible may all have been mentally ill.
It even asks followers to consider accusations made in the New Testament that Jesus "had lost his mind".
It reads: "Many of the people we read about in Bible stories might today be considered as having mental health issues.
"For example, ‘Would Jesus’ family maybe on occasion have said, ‘Cousin John is a bit odd, bless him!’ when John the Baptist took to his eccentric style of life?
"It has long been thought that King Saul, in the books of Samuel, was displaying mood swings that suggest he had bi-polar disorder and some think that St Paul’s Damascus Road experience was the result of some sort of breakdown or psychotic episode.
"Even Jesus was not immune to accusations about his mental health: there is a story in the gospel that tells of his mother and siblings attempting to take him home because they are afraid that he has lost his mind.
"Many of the stories of the Saints, too, have led people to discuss their mental health.
Acknowledging how shocking these ideas might be, Ms McIntyre, a member of the General Synod, adds: "Some may find these suggestions disturbing or offensive even."
Was Jesus Mentally Ill
Hadn't heard about this but puts something else I'd wondered about into context. The Military Channel had a slew of documentaries about Jesus painting him as a doomsday prophet more so than his typical depiction. First time I'd ever heard him refered to like that and it stands out as curious. But if there are people actually proposing he was nuts then it makes more sense.
In the Infancy Gospels (apocrypha) Jesus kills 3 or 4 people. 3 deliberately, 1 he got blamed for the death of a childhood playmate who fell from the roof. Cute story actually, to prove his innocent Jesus ressurects the kid to tesitfy as to it being an accident.

"And when the master hereupon raised his hand and flogged Him, immediately his hand dried up, and he died. Then said Joseph, to the Lady Mary: From this time we shall not let him go out of the house, since every one who opposes him is struck dead."
Another popular account you may have heard of comes from this text, "And He had made figures of birds and sparrows, which flew when He told them to fly, and stood still when He told them to stand, and ate and drank when He handed them food and drink."

"Then the son of Hanan came up to the fish-pond of Jesus also, and kicked it with his shoes, and the water of it vanished away. And the Lord Jesus said to him: As that water has vanished away, so thy life shall likewise vanish away. And immediately that boy dried up."
"47. At another time, when the Lord Jesus was returning home with Joseph in the evening. He met a boy, who ran up against Him with so much force that He fell. And the Lord Jesus said to him: As thou hast thrown me down, so thou shall fall and not rise again. And the same hour the boy fell down, and expired."
Mentally ill? I dunno. Short-fused hothead? Oh ya.
You know what I find really troubling, statements made by christian leaders and christians themselves that is taught up to today saying since the Jews rejected jesus as messiah the have suffered because of it, when in fact the Christians themselves caused the suffering with their inquisitions and pogroms and anti Jewish laws by the church for 2000 years. I have yet to hear a fundamentalist christian say, Judaism is valid and the should stop trying to covert us
Why Jews are Hated
Part of Protestant Christians' anti-Jewish efforts lies in their creating the whole Jews for Jesus/Messianic Judaism movement. There's no such thing as a Jew who accepts Jesus as the Jewish Messiah nor a Messianic tradition of Judaism. If you ID as either of those fine, but you're a Christian not a Jew. It's like saying you're Christian but think Mohammed's the Messiah not Jesus - it doesn't make any sense.
