I think this is what he is talking about.

The situation is extremely serious in the Jerusalem area and for self defense purposes it is essential that residents are able to protect themselves.

Well, only 3% are.

In view of the random nature of the attacks all Israeli residents should carry protection.

Israeli gun control laws disagree with you.

There is nothing stopping residents applying for permits.

Well, there actually are a number of things stopping residents from applying for permits.

1. Only people who retired from the IDF as officers, merchants who routinely carry valuable items, and a few other exceptions are allowed to even apply.
2. It takes weeks of background checks, psychiatric evaluations, training and paperwork - which must be repeated every year.
3. It's a liability to own a gun. If you own a gun in Israel, and someone steals it, you're going to jail.

The following is more what the the authorities are looking for Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat on Thursday encouraged all Israelis with a gun license to carry a weapon with them at all times not all residents

This is an emergency situation which can be handled quickly and all the technicalities that you mention can be overcome.

The Mayor of Jerusalem has said that much.

All those silly little technicalities are keep Jerusalem safe and help thwart terrorists getting weapons.

You have not done your research and I don't know if your last post was supposed to be a joke.

Just do a google search and you will see the Mayor's statements time and time again.

Yup they're the reason these have been stabbings instead of mass shootings.

I agree but they cannot have every person who wants a gun to have a gun. Most anything can stab much less for firing a bullet.

I've read the mayor's statement. He asked for Israelis with gun licences to carry their weapons.

He did not say that "all the technicalities" in getting a gun license can be overcome".

more from the Mayor

"If somebody is concerned about people carrying guns, then don't be violent and you have nothing to be concerned about because we're here to make sure the city is safe and secure," he said.

I am beginning to like this Mayor! :2up:
