That's a good point. JFK was sworn into office Jan. 1961 and the CIA sponsored invasion happened in April 1961. It's possible that JFK was ignorant of the CIA's activity but it happened under his watch. CIA director Allen Dulles was fired and awarded a medal by JFK in November 1961.

In fairness, presidents rarely plan anything dealing with military/covert strategy. They simply give the thumbs up / thumbs down to a proposal from the experts. Kennedy was no different. He was no expert on geopolitical matters either. He's the lefts equivalent of President Bush, only without the stigma of having his early life scrutinized in the press. Indeed, the Kennedys can court communists, drink booze, do drugs, rig elections, conspire with the mafia, commit negligent homicide, and still come out looking clean on the other side. Gotta love that liberal press.
