    The Federal Reserve has invited several critics to come and speak. This speech by James Grant is a very interesting read.

    Grant is a gold bug. He is mistaken about needing to return to a gold standard, but his comments about the Federal Reserve's monetary policies are dead-on. He really nails them to the wall.

    I am not sure that last paragraph is workable, but I don't know how many times I have said that one of the larger roots of modern banking crises goes back to when broker-dealers and banks went public.
