Jacksonians v Jeffersonians

The following is something I read long ago and just stumbled upon once again. While it takes awhile to read, I think there is alot that pertains to some of the recent discussions of 'civil war', etc. breaking out in our country. We have periods where these two 'ideologies' clash and cause great angst, then there usually is some change and the pendulum swings one way or the other again. Personally, I think that the swing started with Reagan, then with Clinton, the Jeffersonians thought they had brought it back, they were mistaken and here we are.

Incredible article!!! Very long but very interesting. I found myself to be quite a Jacksonian, though I disagree with the protectionist beliefs of Jacksonianism.
