It's Very Simple The Democrats Want Santorum

Take some personal responsibility for your party and admit that it is not the unified GOP of yesteryear and is in fact now factional, paralyzed by contradictory goals and hamstrung by ideological zealots.

Not going to hide the fact any longer that the social conservatives only mattered every two years, took them long enough to realize that the establishment GOP is not their friend.
....And, that they're merely "one night stands", as-far-as....

....are concerned.

We Dems/Liberals/Progressives TRIED to warn you.

Mitt laid the groundwork in 2008, but McCain had done the same in 2000. Republicans have to know their candidate. They don't necessarily have to love them. Li'l Ricky is paying his dues this year to position himself as the presumptive front runner in 2016. The Republicans will know him by then, but the majority of them won't love him.

Boy you can tell ALL THAT simply by stating it?

Gonna give us any ideas on WHERE you got your data from about who votes for whom?
Or are you just making shit up?

....Much like he did, in 2004.....and, he's NOT a warlock.

It does not matter if it's Mitt or Santorum running in the GE against Obama because whoever of that 3 wins we as a country lose.

Neither of the three of them will generate enthusiasm from the base.

Romney: mandates, flip- flopper
Gingrich: Washington insider/lobbyist
Santorum: Washington insider/lobbyist

This election will not depend on who loves Romney but who hates obama. Democrats don't want to know it, but it is entirely possible for a voter to vote against obama and vote for anyone else without even caring who it is.

When was the last time the Republican base was enthusiastic about any candidate? They were asleep in 2008 with McCain, in 2004 all they wanted to do was swift-boat Kerry. In 2000 they didn't get enthusiastic until the Florida debacle and the SCOTUS decision (what a way to win, huh?). 1996? Bob Dole? Really? And they couldn't get an incumbent re-elected in 1992.

Perhaps the whole notion of a Republican base is a myth.

The only public activity Santorum is positioning himself for is the taking over of Mike Huckabee's charity weekend time slot on Fox News. Besides, it would be hard for any Republican much less Santorum to be the front runner over Incumbent President Romney in 2016.

The Obama haters didn't vote for him the first time around.

I can see Romney defeating Obama, not Sancto. Gingrich no, Paul, UNKNOWN.

Santorum is exactly the kind of conservative conservatives keep telling us they need to run to win.

A new Goldwater. lol.

Goldwater in a mitre and carrying a shepard's crook.

In 1964, we were afraid of the Goldwater/LeMay ticket because they were such overt hawks.

In 2012, the Santorum candidacy is a cross (no pun intended) between Hester Prynne and J. Edgar Hoover.

Of course the Dems would rather see Santorum as the GOP candidate

There is a slim chance that in an economic downturn the voters would hold their noses and accept Romney as their President

They would need a lobotomy to accept Santorum as their President

That worked so well for Kerry....

The truth is you can win a seat in Congress with a throw the bums out campaign. The Top Spot always requires a platform more than "I'm not that guy."

That isn't to say Romney doesn't have a platform. The problem is that if he allows himself to become the not Obama, he'll lose. If that's all you have, that allows the other guy to define who you are.

I'd argue an exception to the lobotomy requirement could probably be made in the case of voters who happen to be self-loathing closet homosexuals.

Paul would be the most interesting to watch up against Obama IMO. Most people don't even know what a conservative looks like anymore, that's why we watch so much retarded back and forth fighting on these boards... The funny part if everything the left hates about the right, or the right hates about the left is exactly what they vote for in their candidate.

Paul would not win a single state against Obama

He can't even win a Republican Primary
