It's time to pray for global warming, says Flint Journal columnist John Tomlinson

Other than being a whole series of total fabrications, there was nothing factual in the article at all. 650 scientists? Even if that were true, that would be 650 out of 11,000 that attended the conferance. But it is not true. In fact, that is Inhofe's list, a list discredited by many who found themselves on it and wrote angry letters to the lying senator about being included on that list. According to NOAA, 2008 was the eighth warmest year, globaly, on record. And the ice on the Greenland and Antarctic caps continued to melt, even accelerated the rate.

You people continue to post outright lies and half truths to support your denial about the fact that there is an overwhelming consensus in the scientific community as to the danger and cause of the present warming. The warming is anthropogenic in origin, and it is continueing to warm. In fact, 2008 should have been one of the colder years on record because of the strength and duration of the La Nina event. Instead, it is the eighth warmest on record. Within the next two years we should see an El Nino event, and it will more than likely exceed that of 1998 by far.

Don't fret...he's never posted anything true or of value yet.

I suppose we can hope. But well... not really.

Of course... Any other point of view is just a lie.... :cuckoo: Feel free to provide backup anytime...

What if both sides of the argument were true? Suppose Co2 emissions from man-made sources do cause the earth to warm and we're also entering into an ice-age? They'd just cancel each other out.

All ten of the hottest years on record have happened since 1990. In spite of a strong and long duration La Nina, 2008 tied 2001 as the eighth warmest year on record. That is hardly a sign of cooling.

Unfortunately, the Milankovic Cycles work far too slowly to cancel the rapid increase in GHGs that man has put into the atmosphere. So, even though we should be starting a slow, prolonged descent into another ice age, what we are seeing is a rapid and accelerating warming.

Geeze, I've never read more distorted reply's to this thread. No, the 10 hottest years have not been since 1990. Where did you get this from? "Tree Huggers Anonymous?" Take a look back in the 1930's and look at the weather patterns. This is just off the top of my head.
We do have warming and cooling patterns....for millions of years, as a matter of fact. There have been at least 5 ice ages...along with warming periods to melt them away. This comes from (let me be gentle here) "Solar Cycles." Please feel free to read up on it, and and get educated properly. We had in the 1990's a heating pattern. There were several other planets with warming patterns along with ours. Now, I know it wasn't because of human intervention that this was going on, nor was it cows farting. Let's not let facts get in the way of making mankind the evil species.

Where do I get my information from? How about NOAA and NASA. For the lower 48 of the US, 1934 was the hottest year. But that is only 2% of the worlds surface. For the globe as a whole, eight of the ten warmest years on record have been since 2000, and the other two were in the '90s. You needn't be gentle in displaying your profound ignorance. It is not 'Solar Cycles', it is Milankovic Cycles.

No, there are not several other planets with warming patterns along with ours. There are some that are warming because of orbits, because of inclination of axis, and there is one, Uranus, that is cooling significantly.

As for your other twaddle, grow up, and learn to research a bit before posting your ignorance.

You want to talk about ignorance...lets talk. The link you gave is from our own government. If you don't think they are in the tank for "global warming," you are as ignorant as I am. First thing that would come to my ignorant mind is, WHY???? Well...let me think..oh yeah, taxes, taxes, taxes. It would give them a gold mine of new wealth, just by scaring the hell out of an ignorant person such as yourself. We're talking about 3 trillion dollars according to the CATO Institute.
Take a lesson here...solar cycles deal with the sun spots on the sun. Sun spots are associated with a warming period such as in the 1990's when there were a lot of sun spot activities. We are now in a cooling trend with no sun spots. Milenkovic cycles deal with the wobble of orbits. Quite a bit of difference from what you had stated. Maybe we both are as ignorant...eh? But, here is the difference, solar cycles are a fact, and "Milenkovic Cycle" on planetary global warming is just a theory. Perhaps the "Old Rock' could use some growing up himself. Sonny, you really do need to stop thinking that your all that on this subject. You are no smarter than I am. So take a step back, and have another glass of Kool-Aid.

Ah yes, a vast conspiracy involving every scientific society, every National Academy of Science, and every major university on earth. Do you keep plenty of tinfoil handy for manufacturing your little tin helmets?

The Cato Institute? A partisan political organization wholly owned by the big corperations. Hardly a reputable source for information on scientific subjects.

What is important concerning the sun, is the total solar irradiance. And we have observed that from satellites for the last fifty years. There has been no increase in the total solar irradiance in that period, a slight insignificant decrease is what has been seen.

As far as relitive intelligence is concerned, at least I have done the research, while you obviously have not.

I see you had your glass of Kool-Aid. You can look at your sources, and I can look at my sources. Yours are funded by tax dollars, and mine aren't. Also, the CATO Institute isn't in the tank for any side of the quarter. You will demean them because they don't share your socialist views. More, and More climatologists are saying that "global warming" is over exaggerated. Also, your diminishing the solar cycles, is also wrong. It does have a lot more impact than your CO2 in the atmosphere. Oh, by the way, our satellites weren't capable of that kind of study 50 years ago. Get your facts straight, dude.
Maybe this will make some sense to you...maybe not. We can't make definitive calculations from just 120 years out of 5 billion years of the Earth's life. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand this. Whether you want to believe that, or not is your decision. But, don't come up all mighty and say I'm not educated, and I don't know what I'm talking about. May I be so bold as to ask you what the right temperature should be? Who makes that decision??? The Earth has had fluctuating temperatures throughout time, and it has been a lot warmer, and a lot cooler...this is fact. Why now must it be way out of whack??? Don't believe me, but it is a chance for government to be empowered by hoisting massive taxes. They're trying already, and this is the tip of the iceberg.

I've never understood the Kool-aid reference... Can someone explain it to the foreigner? Something about Al Gore drinking it, or something like that?

In any case, I'd say we should get loads of it. Kool-aid for the whole family. Since global warming is a lie, then let the big party continue! There's enough of that sweet red juice to go around while the party lasts for ALL ETERNITY!! I'm so glad we live in a world of no consequences. Brings a tear to my eye, really.

Kool-Aid for everybody!

The reference to Kool-Aid refers to the Jim Jones religious cult. When Jim Jones was about to be exposed for crimes in Jonestown, British Guyana in South America He told them that they all needed to drink the arsenic laced Kool-Aid, no questions asked. For the most part, they did...over 800 men women, and children.

OHHHHH right! I've heard about this many times, but I never thought people here were referencing THAT! Never connected the dots, I guess. Thanks for that!

Well, in that case, let's all keep drinking that black... uh, red Kool-aid until we are stupefied!
