The Lakers have just acquired Dwight Howard (and kept Pau Gasol).

We now have the best starting 5 in basketball and history will be made this season.

Time to go home, bitches!

I gave up on basketball years ago. Especially the Lakers. I had season tickets during the "Showtime" era. It seems to as if the players have less character these days.

I've been following the Lakers since before they were playing at the Forum, when they were playing at the Sports Arena and their stars were Jerry and Elgin. Then they got my favorite player of all-time, Wilt Chamberlain.

I went through the lean years in the mid-seventies, when they had Don Ford and Corky Carroll. Then came 1979 and it was all Magic from there.

Now we have Howard and are going to eat Miami alive inside.

I didnt see Howard on the USA Olympics basketball team.

The Lakers lost Bynam in the trade.

Hard to see how the aquisition of Howard will get them to the level of the OKC Thunder or Miami Heat.

They are still an old team.

That's because he had back surgery.

Correction: They sent Bynum packing.

Why would they want to go down a notch.

What drugs are you on?

The Heat got stronger with pick-ups like Ray Allen.

The Lakers are old - like their main fan..............................

Like Ray Allen is a spring chicken!

The Heat got nothin' in the middle.

We're gonna eat their lunch in the paint.

Basketball: In the first 30 seconds it's 1 to 3, in the last 30 seconds it's 101 to 103... What on Earth would one watch an entire game when they can see the entire game in the last 30 seconds? Bring on the NFL!

In the playoffs last season, LA was up by 7 on the Thunder with 30 seconds to go and lost.

In the last meeting between the two teams in the regular season, the Thunder was up by 18 on LA mid-way through the 4th quarter and lost.

A few seasons ago, San Antonio was up by 1 with .4 tenths of a second and lost.

Where do you get that in football?

Howard vs Perkins
Nash vs Westbrook
Bryant vs Sefolosha
Gasol vs Ibaka
Artest vs Durant

Bryant and Howard get the nod.
The other three go to the Thunder.
No different than last year, with a slight upgrade for LA.

I'd take the Heat's starting lineup over LA but it is close, the Miami bench is much deeper.
