Even certified Hollywod liberals were reeling after Chevy Chase's pottymouthed Bush-bashing Tuesday night at the Kennedy Center, where the actor hosted and awards ceremony staged by People for the American Way.

He deployed the four letter word that got Cheney in hot water, using it as a noun. Chase called the president a "dumb [expletive]........He also used it as an ajective, assuring the audience, "Im no f--kin clown either.....This guy started a jihad."

So I had to reflect on why Hollywood has such a seething hatred for a decent man like Bush, yet never uttered a peep when corrupt moraly bankrupt Clinton was in office getting head in the Oval office while our dead boys were being dragged through the streets of Somalia

I came to the conclusion that Bush represents all that they dispise, Christianity, character, integrity, morality....things which most of these people don't possess. And they are angry that he is so successful being that way, and getting re-elected. Also they take the American's vote for Bush as a repudiation of them, which it is, their egos can't handle this. And so they demean themselves in retaliation.

Chase was finsihed years ago, this is typical of most has-beens to get themselves in the limelight again!
True, this reminds me of Linda Rondstadt's screed in Los Vegas a while back....

I guess they figure, hey, if getting up in front of an audience and making a fool out of yourself trying to bash Bush worked for his royal heftiness, Michael Moore, it is worth a shot!

I'll bet that since this happened, Chevy Chase has been waiting by the phone for calls from his agent!

Maybe these guys are tired of playing "Mr.Nice guy" with the inferior, moral, red-staters so it's time for them cease the painful restraint they had been operating under and get up in the face of the conservatives who have voted to have an extended 4 year moratorium on their liberal orgy. Just a wild guess

I say "Good for him! Keep up the good work!"

The more we see of the "actual face" of Hollywood movie stars, the sooner the majority of Americans will realize that these spoiled, selfish, little children deserve neither our admiration or attention outside the movie theater.

Bonnie you are absolutly correct. Also, to me Hollywoods are people who spend their lives reading scripts. They are told what to say, where to stand, what to wear and so on - their job is being told what to do in every single aspect. They do not have a clear view on reality because their jobs and lives are make believe only they do not get that. They cuss the photographers yet they continually show up where these photographers are - they are desperate for attention in constant competetion with one another - whose the youngest looking, who has the best suit (or dress), who won the best award, and so on....they are kids that never grew up.

As for Chevy Chase or whatever his name is - wasn't he the actor who stared in a two bit movie back in the early eighties about a family on holiday? The unfunny clumsy guy from snl in the seventies? Isn't he classified under the title of 'what ever happened to?' - so what the hell is this washed up, unfunny movie star that never was a star doing in DC? Couldn't they find someone a little less washed up like David Hasselhoff or someone? I mean how far back in the 'has been actors' book did they go to dig this guy up from the cobwebs?
Talk about f*cking idiots. They need not look any further than themselves.

I think people got a clear view of these people before the election. They were the ones who used mad. sq garden as a place to raise money for that liberal guy that challenged Bush - does anyone remember his name? At any rate, I laugh in their faces 'HA!'...all your money, all your badmouthing did nothing....nothing.
But anyway, most of them become wash ups anyway...I mean how many actors survive long term? very few. most loose their ability to entertain and thus sink like the titanic.

I suppose what surprises me the most is when they behave like this they come across as very unhappy people. With all the money and material things they have they still seem so miserable and angry..........Yet most of us that are not multi millionaires are happy in general with our lives and our beliefs and our families, maybe we appreciate the simpler things in life like movies, dinner out, seeing familiy for the holidays, taking kids to the park etc. We don't need to be seen at some vacuous movie premiere or some faux charity dinner to feel good about ourselves............Maybe that's what it comes down too??

they found out there is nothing at the top of the big ladder they climbed--gotta be depressing for those without a soul.

At the risk of losing a few more "points" - I don't consider spiraling the debt over 7 Trillion, spending hundreds of billions attacking Iraq, instead of hundreds of billions focused on Al Queda, and economic policies that have resulted in the plummeting of the value of the dollar as "decent".

Actually, Bonnie, Hollywood had a FIELD DAY with Clinton's indiscretions.

You can't claim that Hollywood despises "Christianity" - a major segment of the Hollywood community is in fact Christian, as can be evidenced by the proliferation of so many Christian oriented films and programs. Films like Passion of the Christ, and TV shows like "The District", Sue Thomas FB Eye", "Touched by an Angel" etc. etc. all show the strong Christian element in Hollywood.

How would you know? Do you live here? Are you judging the entire Hollywood community based on that has-been Chase???

Everyone I know (here in Hollywood) that is angry about Bush is angry because they disagree vehemently with his misguided policies.

Andy Im certainly not taking issue with anyones right to speak or to feel the way they do rightly or wrongly about Bush, and Im not going to get into the why's of why I think Bush is a moral man, that would be useless as it's been done adnauseum on this board.

The point I am making with this is the way they express that anger by lowering themselves to the kind of conduct that makes them SEEM ignorant, and unhappy, second point I was making is their irrational hatred of Bush as expressed with very degrating profanity of the office of Presidency. Thirdly the way Hollywood made fun of Clinton had a much different tone, it was a much more haha he cheated on his wife and got caught big deal, he's still one of us, he's a great president even though he has no character. Although they never actually said he had no character. What I am basing my opinions on is how they are acting in public. It's one thing to disagree and say so, but to do so in a classless way is not making their point, and they are looking foolish in the process.

You have a point. The human mind is a funny thing. When it has something to challenge it, it can be very constructive. But, when you are already as rich as Midas and have a lot of time on your hands with little to do, then the trouble starts. Your mind starts creating issues and problems just to keep itself occupied. I'm not advocating poverty, certainly. However, for some people success is a worse fate than failure. Once some people acheive monetary success, they have nothing left to strive for.

This explains why some athletes with multi-million dollar contracts wind up in rehab, jail and ultimately on skid row. They have the discipline to play their sport well, but don't have the discipline to deal with success and the challenges it presents (like how to still say "no" to yourself when you can have anything you want --- especially the illegal or excessive kind of "anything", and how to control yourself as in control your temper, your attitude and your desires).

The two old sayings "Idle hands are the Devil's workshop" and "He who conquers a city is strong, but He who conquers himself is mighty" are certainly true.

So.... you are advocating cutting government spending? Great! Let's start with the biggest part of the federal government, entitlements! After all, the forty year and $5 trillion war on poverty has proven itself to be an utter failure. Let's also get rid of a lot of government jobs (which should start to take care of itself, now that many Federal Government employees are starting to approach retirement age!

Second... spending hundreds of billions of dollars to defeat Al Queda is like trying to get rid of an infestation of ants in your house by squashing them. That doesn't work (I know .. I've had them!). You have to go after the source, you have to find the colony and kill the queen! Similarly we can get rid of Al Queda and capture OBL, but that won't defeat terrorism. We have to go after the infrastructure that supports it (i.e. the governments that sponsor it, the financial networks that keep it going and so on). That is how we are going to win the war on terror.

Actually, Bonnie, Hollywood had a FIELD DAY with Clinton's indiscretions.

And the media didn't report it! Gee... I wonder why?

"By their fruits ye shall know them" ---- one only has to listen to what comes out of the mouths of some of the Hollywood glitterati, then listen to what the rest of Hollywood doesn't say (i.e. in condemnation). I think that the old chestnut "silence is consent" rings true here.

Everyone I know (here in Hollywood) that is angry about Bush is angry because they disagree vehemently with his misguided policies.
Misguided policies that have prevented any more terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11. Misguided policies that started treating the war on terrorism as a war, not a police action. Misguided policies that treated the 9/11 attack as an act of war. Misguided policies that tore down the barriers erected by the Clinton Administration between our intellegence and domestic law enforcement agencies so that they can help prevent future 9/11s from happening. Misguided policies that have put pressure on North Korea, Iran and Libya to stop their quest for nuclear weapons.

Misguided policies that have helped to turn the economy around (and a recession that was inherited from the Clinton Administration).

Misguided policies that are cutting taxes for people and helping them become less reliant on government (although, not enough, in my opinion).

Misguided policies that are proving over and over again that many of the liberal (i.e. socialist) fantasies that the Hollywood Culture embraces are actually the misguided policies. But then, no one likes to be proven wrong, do they?

At the risk of losing a few more "points" - I don't consider spiraling the debt over 7 Trillion, spending hundreds of billions attacking Iraq, instead of hundreds of billions focused on Al Queda, and economic policies that have resulted in the plummeting of the value of the dollar as "decent".

Civil, Because this is not an economics discussion...I'll skip the links and simply state, that there are an incredible number of very prominent, well-known, highly-educated economists who disagree with your negative view of this...including those who state that when you view the deficet along with all other US Economic factors it is no more out of whack than it ever was, that the weakening dollar is not devestating to us, and that one of the main problems with the Bush Tax Cuts was that he didn't cut enough. For every economist who will spew gloom and doom about the Bush Economy I can find two who disagree...I think you're mistaken on viewing the Bush economy with such negativity.

Actually, Bonnie, Hollywood had a FIELD DAY with Clinton's indiscretions.

Sorry, but this is just crap.

Hollywood, and many on the left, did and still do ADORE Clinton...they mocked his blowjobs and accusations of rape the way they roast famous actors...it was all in good fun, because both sides knew that they really loved and needed eachother.

The true mean-spirited actions were towards Monica...who was crucified by Hollywood and the main-stream media...and the other women in Clinton's infamous past...for a few it seemed that the only thing having fairly good evidence that Bill Clinton raped you would get you was a skit on SNL showing you as a fat, ugly, stalker.

To claim that Hollywood showed the same vitriol towards Clinton's sex-scandals that they did towards Bush is bull. (And while they were good-naturedly teasing him about bjs in the oval office they completely gave him a pass on his illustrious war record, and the numerous other scandals, and war decisions, he made or was involved in during his presidency).

You can't claim that Hollywood despises "Christianity" - a major segment of the Hollywood community is in fact Christian, as can be evidenced by the proliferation of so many Christian oriented films and programs. So Hollywood accepted the Passion of the Christ with open arms?!?! ARE YOU INSANE? Mel Gibson was practically ex-communicated from the club when he paid for the film entirely by himself. And if you missed the ongoing hatefest coming from people who still refuse to see the film (perhaps you should simply try counting the number of Golden Globe nominations...or how much attention it gets at the Oscars...)...then you have your head in the sand. Hollywood in general has shown nothing but spite and contempt for these types of shows, movies, etc. A quick look back to entertainment magazines, etc. will show you the mocking programs like Touched By An Angel received by Hollywood and the Media...its middle America who accepts and wants these programs, Civil....Hollywood just grudgingly tosses one out there every once in awhile in order to make some money.

How would you know? Do you live here? Are you judging the entire Hollywood community based on that has-been Chase???

Bonnie doesn't have to have lived there, she could live on the moon and still be able to have an opinion about Hollywood and movie stars because we all have access to movie stars thoughts, opinions, feelings, urges, wants, musings, ambitions, daydreams, hints, suggestions, demands, leanings, desires, and tendancies, because THEY FEEL THE NEED TO SHARE THEM WITH US ALL THE TIME!!!!

Sean Penn took out of full-page ad in the NY Times to tell us all how his right of free speech was being infringed upon. Barbara Streisand has a website where she posts her latest spelling mistakes...telling us not to support war with Iran...oops, I mean Iraq. Matt Damon says he'd pay a million dollars (just chump change to him...take that red staters) to get Kerry elected. Chevy Chase calls Bush names to get laughs and make himself feel important. Sheryl Crow tells us that the way not to have war is to not have enemies...very helpful, Sheryl. The Dixie Chicks call people in the South bigoted idiots and then complain that their sales are going down and it just isn't fair...

We don't have to live in their neighborhoods to know their opinions, Civil...for some insane reason, our media and some of the more insane of our citizenry, think their opinions are worthy of being nightly news.

Everyone I know (here in Hollywood) that is angry about Bush is angry because they disagree vehemently with his misguided policies.

I am sure that you have friends who have honest, educated opinions on why they don't like Bush. However, we are not talking about your friends, we are discussing the Hollywood stars who attempted to influence this election by telling anyone with a camera how they felt about Bush....and very rarely did their opinions come out as anything other than idiotic whining, much like what we saw from Chevy...

What really saddens me, is that I've had such great "belly laughs" from Chevy's Lampoon movies, yet this very talented comic has totally lost my respect with these new revelations.

He is a left-over from the original Cast of SNL. I do remember that back in those days he evoked barbs at the Republican administration.

Of course we know who the American Way folks are don't we. Charlie Sheen's dear daddy, Martin. I bet good old Ed "commie" Astner, is also a member too.

Gosh, I'm starting to really not like many of these Hollywood folks......i.e. Streisand, Chase, Sarandon & Hubby, etc., etc, etc,.... Even Letterman, and Leno don't hide their dislike for the Repubs.

What's a conservative to do.......with the Hollywood elite, and the major media all ganged up against them?

It's now in vogue to hate Christians.........and tolerate Muslims. Public schools teach our intolerant children how to understand the Islamic culture, while teaching them that Separation of Church and State only applies to Christian culture and teaching........

Without faith in this country, we are becoming a frightened mob, of selfers. Instead of being inflamed with anger towards these Jihadists, we are becoming frightened by them. That's just what they want. We build big buildings, but we're become empty shells. Maybe, "paper tiger" isn't such an inaccurate metaphor afterall.

Hey, don't blast my patriotism for those comments. My comments are meant to awaken, not disparage.

Regretfully, Eightballsidepocket
