"This disposition to admire, and almost to worship, the rich and powerful, and to despise, or, at least neglect persons of poor and mean conditions... is... the great and most universal cause of the corruption of our moral sentiments." Adam Smith

As the rapacious republicans and the gutless democrats ruin the nation through debt and immoral tax policy, these books examine the consequences so obvious today in America. Politics has become, getting the 20 percent or so who vote to vote for you regardless of the consequences to the nation's health. And voters too have a part in this failure to keep our nation moving forward.

"In 2005, 21.2 percent of US national income accrued to just 1 percent of earners. Contrast 1968, when the CEO of General Motors took home, in pay and benefits, about sixty-six times the amount paid to a typical GM worker. Today the CEO of Walmart earns nine hundred times the wages of his average employee. Indeed, the wealth of the Walmart founder's family that year estimated at about the same ($90 billion) as that of the bottom 40 percent of the US population: 120 million people." Tony Judt 'Ill Fares the Land'

"Why inequality is undemocratic and Un-American'

"Ill fares the land, to hast'ning ill a prey,
Where wealth accumulates, and men decay;
Princes and Lords may flourish, or may fade:
A breath can make them, as a breath has made;
but a bold peasantry, their country's pride,
When once destroyed can never be supplied." Oliver Goldsmith

It's not information. It's class warfare propaganda.

Did you review the information thoroughly?

The 'income difference' is a progressive talking point with little foundation in fact, yet much basis in socialist propaganda - the propaganda techniques don't get much more textbook than that. I mean, have folks never even studied, even briefly, propaganda techniques?????

So, :wtf:.

Is there a point here? I'm not seeing it.

The immoral tax policy is the fact that:

1) Taxes are too high
2) Taxes are unevenly distributed rather than equal for all citizens

Oh and yes, the politicians in both parties want to be reelected. That usually requires that they favor policies that dont destroy the economy. Somehow this Congress has ignored that, but then many of them were not reelected.

1) Taxes are too high
2) Taxes are unevenly distributed rather than equal for all citizens

We should have a personal income flat tax that taxes ALL peronal income the same without any deductions. That is the only true fair tax.

I agree. It also gives everyone a stake in our Republic. So we don't have representation without taxation.

(You obviously assumed I didn't. Not my style, so WRONG.)

My post still stands.

So the consequences don't matter? Don't take offense, but you did not listen nor read any of the information, if you had you wouldn't be so quick with a non answer to a ongoing serious problem.

Democrats care. But they are a coalition party with extremely diverse views and expectations.

The Republican Party is 90% white and based in the deep south. The majority think they "won against Obama".

The new speaker. Against spending money on "poverty and blight", but all for a trillion dollars in new tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.

Where in the Constitution does the Federal Government have the authority to spend money on poverty and blight?

I don't appreciate folks who lie about me. So, don't.

Your assumption is once again flat wrong.

I am all too familiar with this Progressive (and socialist) talking point. Unlike many in your corner (and likely you), I have looked into this at length and found no solid foundation for the income differential talking point other than propaganda and that includes the content of your post.

You would be well served to educate yourself on the difference between rhetoric and fact. You might get something out of a cursory review of propaganda techniques, too, so that you don't continue going through life as a dupe and a patsy.

So is everything you ever post!

Is that why her reputation is ten times higher than yours? Shut the fuck up idiot.

She has 10 times as many posts, abject loser. AND she has a huge crush on me. So stiffle your jealousy!

This BTW is the thread of the day, tho iamasiseem's "is unemployement the new welfare" thread was a very close second.
