It's official, the US is now run by the rich, for the rich

The World is run by the rich, for the rich. Did any folks really think otherwise?

So the supremes place we the people below corporations. No surprise there. The surprise is so many working stiffs taking the side of the corporations. The corporations have gotten so large due to their swallowing up thousands of small businesses and bribing politicians.

Not every one places the value of being rich as there priority in life. many people just want a job that pays the bills puts food on the table & allows them to enjoy there life with family & friends. why do we place so much value on the rich & famous? what's wrong with being middle class.
I think there's an argument to be made that this is the real american dream. That you can be a rather ordinary, unspectacular person yet still have a solid well paying job, own a house and live a good life. The idea of getting filthy rich could certainly be considered a dream and perhaps something to strive for, but for the majority of people back in the day compared to what the rest of the world was going through: the american dream was to have a happy, modest life... which was (and still is) amazing compared to much of the world.

We lived through economic stagnation for the last eight years where the GDP didn't rise over 3% for the first time in history and the socialist left loved it. Today the DOW is up over 25,000 and the economy is booming. Employment among minorities is higher than it has been for twenty years and the pathetic socialist left can't stop whining about the unfairness of it all.

You are very good at drawing incorrect conclusions

Money makes the world go around...none of us living today developed our system but we do have to live within it...evidence shows that capitalism works for the greater amount of people and when the majority of the world are freely doing business on a global scale it helps people at all levels of income...Go ahead! come up with a better way and win a prize but to fight against the way we do things without a sane alternative that will work is silly...

This isn't about capitalism. This is about how they make capitalism function. They've decided that for capitalism to work, they need to fuck over the poorer people. Why?
Because poor people have only themselves to blame for being poor, according to conservative dogma.

It's the right's version of Social Darwinism.

Supreme Court Decision Delivers Blow To Workers' Rights

"workers may not band together to challenge violations of federal labor laws."

Yes, divide and conquer. You do not have the ability to challenge the rich as a group, only as individuals. You'll never be able to afford to challenge the rich as individuals.

The Supreme Court has once again told the bottom 90% to FUCK OFF AND GO BACK TO THEIR PLACE AS SLAVES.

All they did was apply the law as it is written. I do not like the decision but it is the legally correct one.

Actually they CHOSE which law trumps another law, because they wanted to make such a decision.

That it was 5-4 shows just how fucking political this is.

The reason they chose this decision was because a Supreme Court justice died, the Republicans refused to accept a new one, and then Trump won the election with less votes than his opponent.

That's what it boils down to here. Not democracy. Not the will of the people. It boils down to the rich fucking people over.
And this is just the first of such dreadful decisions; it will only get worse as Trump makes more appointments to the Court.

that is not true but it is also not true that none of them are to blame for their own predicament.....many people spend a portion or all of their life doing the wrong thing...and that has costs attached to it....self discipline and a strong work ethic is vital....stop giving lazy a pass so you feel good about yourself...you are hurting people by easing their mistakes in life or giving them someone or something other than themselves to blame.....You go on and pat yourself on the back and lending the poor no help at all...your attitude makes their situation worse....

So become rich

Ah, one of the most ridiculous statements going.

we live in the United States of America. What so ridiculous about become a rich?
A kid saves his lawn mowing money for a whole summers cutting, and at the end he proudly went and purchased a super cool remote controlled gas powered airplane, and a bicycle with the money. He was in the 5th grade as I recall.

We all looked at him with envy, and I bet he felt proud of his strategy and accomplishments.

We had the same opportunity he had, but we chose different paths for better or for worse.

We never blamed him for his success nor did we covet his success in any kind of sinful way. All we could do is learn from him, and keep learning in life to achieve our own success.

So become rich

I didn't say it was ridiculous to become rich.

The point is that the rich need workers in order to become rich. You have to take risks and gambles.

It's IMPOSSIBLE for everyone in America to be rich. There has to be people who are much lower down. So to suggest everyone just become rich to avoid these problems is to ignore reality.

Not if you live within your means, stay out of debt, and invest 15% of your income.

Takes work thrift and sacrifice but it’s doable for just about anyone who makes a plan

Well now we've still got problems.

Invest 15% of your income. Or gamble 15% of your income.

Firstly it depends on how much income you're getting in. Can all people afford 15%? To even save 15% let alone gamble it on a system that could bite you in the ass with one bad day?

Stay out of debt? Come on, how many people can afford to buy a home without getting into massive, MASSIVE debt?

You seem not to be seeing things from the perspective of the bottom 80%

DAMNIT!
This is such bad news huh frigidweirdo?
Were you hoping welfare queen ShaQuita and illegal Guadalupe would be running the country by now?
I’m sure if the nation was run by ‘your people’.....illegitimate classless filth, Feminazi's, low-life's and bottom feeders, weirdos, illegals, men in dresses, carpet munchers and pole puffers it would be such a better place.

It might be better if intolerant people such as yourself weren't around.

OR
Maybe you self proclaimed “tolerant” types need to grow some balls, pull your heads from your asses, quit being so lazy, be a little less “tolerant” and demand better of your children, your countrymen and government.
It’s easy to be “tolerant”...it’s a clever way to say “I’m lazy filth and I feel better about myself when everyone around me is lazy filth as well.”

See now you're thinking there's only black and white. You're making a million assumptions about me.

I'm not a Democrat, I don't agree with the two main parties, I think there should be Proportional Representation so more people are represented in Congress.

I also think that people should be encouraged to work a lot more than they are. I think problems should be solved, rather than left to fester.

You don't know shit about me, but just like religion fills in the gaps with the bullshit they made up, you're doing that too.

It is some what ridiculous because we have one of the worst social mobility rates among the industrialized countries.

So, while it is possible, the idea that everyone can achieve the American dream is just a myth

Yes, the saying is that anyone can achieve it. Potentially true, someone could win the lottery, for instance. But not everyone can do it together. One can do it, while thousands won't be able to do it.

So it is about capitalism.

No, capitalism doesn't need to be like this. This is about a choice within capitalism.

The reality is China does the same thing. Capitalist? Sort of.
It is inherent in capitalism. The capitalist system creates winners and losers and continually perpetuates the conflict.

Yes, it does. But then there's capitalism where the Supreme Court is on the side of the rich. There's capitalism where the President is on the side of the rich, and there's capitalism where the whole government is run by the rich for the rich.

That's wrong.
It's class warfare. The propertied class has a stranglehold on the remainder of the population.

There will be no real push back until those among us who think of themselves as progressives or liberals wake up and realize that the Democrat Party is complicit in facilitating the despotism.

There needs to be a change in how people vote. Proportional Representation would change things.

This is what finally clued you in? So Bill, Hillary, Obama and other leftists running to Wall Street and Corporate America for their payoff tours for services rendered didn't do it? Wow ...

Is there any way to make it different? It seems that has been the case through all of history, some go up, some down most stay where they started.

Of course it's always been like this. The issue in the modern world is that people want more power. They want more equality, not less.

What's the point of Democracy? The US pretends to have Democracy, whereas the reality is something quite different.

reality is we are a republic. And as much as some people like to conflate the two, a democracy and a republic are not the same thing

It's always been this way. You just figured this out? Holy slow. The whole country realizes it and accepts it.

Yes, it's always been bad, but it's getting worse.

Also the "It's official" would simply be "there is now enough evidence to...."

Also, what are people going to do about it?
Write your Congressman and ask for new laws to be written, that is what the court decision pretty much said.
