[Illegal? Yes! But Barack Obama obeys no laws and the first rule of thumb in his administration is that no one who bought their way into his inner circle via campaign contributions should endure any pain, financial or otherwise. Therefore when it came time to subordinate the taxpayer to the investor's and his political supporters interest, it was a no brainer. If you think you're going to hear this from the NYT, the WaPo, ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC you're out of your mind. Journalism is officially dead until the next Republican President as per a single, solitary July 15th article in the New York Times which admitted they subject all their political news stories for editing, corrections, and approvals to the White House before printing them. Does Joseph Goebbels come to mind? How about Pravda then?

"Via Beltway Confidential:

The House Energy and Commerce Committee released a report today on the Energy Department’s decision to subordinate taxpayers to private investors in the ill-fated Solyndra project. That is, the taxpayers would have to wait in line behind the private investors and let them recoup all of their losses first. Only after that could taxpayers could get any money back – assuming there would be any money to recoup at this point. In this case, that would be a reported $328 million of the $335 million federal loan guarantee to Solyndra.

This is significant because the plain language of the department’s own rules for loan guarantees states that taxpayers must not be subordinate and instead must come first"

At least Bushs' DOE said it was a bad investment...I guess Obama took offense as did Solyndra and the others like them that failed...and Obama gave them what they wanted because they contributed to him.

 @ bottomless pit of corruption. You can't be a tax payer and support this policy of thievery . Obama wants to decide who wins and loses in business and just make sure donors get theirs back, they have gone off the deep end if they still support him.

Obama is the closest we've come to becoming a corrupt banana republic, he's running the USA like some third world corrupt shithole. Unions and his friends get rewarded, fuck the laws

Of course they did. From what I've read its the only way they would invest. They had to be on the top of the list if Solyndra went South.

Once again we taxpayers get hosed by the idiots in Govt.

Nothing new at all.
