The Pledge: Grover Norquist's hold on the GOP - CBS News

-- so they sign a pledge not to raise taxes and then they raise taxes on one group while refusing to raise taxes on another.

What's so funny about this is that pub/bag voters will tell you they want to 'vote 'em all out' and 'get rid of Washington insiders' and yet, they're in love with a bunch of smarmy lobbyists - Norquist, Cain and Gingrich among them.

I know. Doesn't make sense. The people hurt the worst are the elderly Republican base who are getting more elderly by the day.

It makes perfect sense when they've proposed an alternative bill where they don't raise taxes on anyone but keep the tax cuts while eliminating unnecessary spending.

But then youd probably have to not be a partisan hack to deal with that fact.
