It's not JUST about Sharpton or Jesse! The Right wing hates ALL black leaders!

How did he "make up for it"???

He successfully fought the good fight not just for us black folks, but for american society as a whole. His personal failings could never take that away.

Regardless if I agree or disagree with every other thing he stood for, his brave campaign for civil rights and Americans seeing each other as Americans and judging on the character and not skin was and continues to be a righteous cause.

That's how, for me.

DO you agree with his call for reparations and racial quotas to bring about racial equality?

No I don't agree with reparations, though I think men from his era and before him had more of a right to call for it or propose it than these jackass hustlers sewing hatred and trying to turn back the clock for profit and publicity ever had. As far as racial quotas, I didn't live back then. But I do not have a hard time believing it was or may have been needed at that point in history, especially in urban centers and the South. However today it's an insult to me, my fellow countrymen of black backgrounds, my fellow countrymen of white background, and the rest of my fellow Americans. It's gone beyond quotas to reverse discrimination. The only people who argue this isn't so are quite frankly either stupid, uninformed, and span from there to the extreme of vengeful wack jobs who are just as bad as these moronic white supremacists who flood the race boards here with garbage about their fellow Americans because of the color of their skin.

I know I'm talking to a wall, but I have faith it is not in vain and that wall will one day be cracked. And God willing, Crumble.

If the good Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. espoused (a) the righteousness of racial equality and (b) the desirability of socialism, does it really strike you as being all that impossible that we might agree with him on the former but nevertheless disagree with him on the latter?

Are racial hiring quotas, reparations, and affirmative action "racial equality" in your eyes?

No. His objective was to make race irrelevant.

To the extent (if you aren't just vastly over-stating the case as is your usual M.O.) he sought to achieve it by shit like reparations and quotas, then I am free to disagree with his proposed methodology. Wrong is wrong. The ends do not usually justify the means.

You need to get the fuck over yourself. You really aren't all that bright.

And you need to read MLK Jr's writings and the text of his speeches. If you did that you wouldn't have to question if I overstated. The reason you made that statement is because you don't know what your talking about.

Wrong. YOU seem impervious to the actual thrust of what I refuted you "argument" with. I don't give a shit if Dr. King favored the absurd notion of "reparations." Fuck that bullshit. Totally irrelevant.

Instead, the POINT is that the GOAL is what we agree with. Make race irrelevant. He famously orated about a day when people did not get judged on the basis of skin color. You -- being a mere race baiting hack -- use that line as fodder for a cheap put-down. Many other people, myself included, instead contemplate those words as having real merit.

Race will never be irrelevant. It was a dream MLK Jr had, one of hope and faith, and you white conservatives have made clear what you think of hope.

Ever read what MLK Jr said about Barry Goldwater and the republican party for choosing Goldwater?
:)

If you notice a common thread amongst some white and some allegedly "black" conservatives, it's that they tend to favor and call some of these people "leaders" when they perpetuate and advocate the theme of; "Dem blacks dey be bad massa, dey be on da democrat plantation massa, when dey should be votin for you massa, so der fo, dey be brainwashed". The are "the Blacks" who are on their approved list of negroes.

There are "good" and "bad" in all peoples and all races.

It has nothing at all to do with that childish stereotype drivel posted by Phoenix, however.

I can disagree with the racial pandering of assholes like Al Sharpton without classifying him as a "bad" black man.

I can admire Justice Thomas without classifying him as a "good" black man. Indeed, I don't usually think of them by race. I think of them by the positions they stand for.

I can disagree with scumbags like Saul Alinsky or Bill Ayers without classifying them by color at all. Bill Ayers is a bad human being.

There's nothing "childish about posting the truth. There's no "stereotype" when one puts the word "some" as a qualifier. For instance; "Some Black people are criminals." is a LOT different than; "Blacks are criminals.". One statement (the first one) is true, the other is a stereotype.

That's why I made the statement that Thomas Sowell and David Duke have the same number of black supporters and the same number of white conservative supporters.

I agree.

He made up for it. Jackson and sharpton haven't made up for their sordid pasts.

So his advocacy for racial hiring quotas, reparations, and affirmative action is "color blind" in your opinion? :)

So once again you denigrate those who have a different opinion than you.

Jesse Jackson was with King, 44 years ago. He called for reparations then and now, does he have the right, by your logic?

I feel that 44 years of Affirmative Action doesn't make up for 188 years of slavery, jim crow and institutionalized racism.

Don't think for a minute that I'll run from a debate.

Hey Phoenixops! How've you been man? You can read my last post to gleen from it the answers to your questions. And I stand by every single word I said. You
site Lew Rockwell? I'm sorry, that man is damn near anarchist, a neo-confederate and all around general asshat. He does not own libertarianism nor is he worth a pot of piss after an exchange I had with him personally via email that proved to this libertarian constitutional conservative that he's nothing more than a prejudice jerk who longs for the return of the Confederacy. Be careful who you let influence you, brother.

They say that Sharpton and Jesse are dividing America. Thats the same thing they said about MLK

they say that Sharpton and Jesse are race pimps. Thats the same thing they said about MLK

They say that Sharpton and Jesse are toublemakers. Thats the same thing they said about MLK

The fact is that throughout history, the right wing in America has NEVER and will never like black leaders, accept black leaders and will always denounce them.

Unless, some right winger here can name ONE black leader that is for the black community that they respect. Just ONE. :D

yea and they bugged MLK's conversations too...oh wait:eusa_shhh:....

I can name several, but you don't really give a shit. so....carry on.

You are the biggest phony on this board. Do you expect me to believe that you are naiive enough to be fully convinced that Jackson, solely on the fact he was regularly in the presence of MLK jr., did not suffer from what adpiring career politicians throughout history in every nation and practically every race down to the ethnic groups divide suffered from? Hunger for power and control? Now MLKJR had some of those human failures and I am not claiming otherwise. But he did not purposely seek to incite violence and extort property from others through coercion. He simply spoke and advocated for what he felt would bring about equality for black folks. I think reparations are wrong and that the quota system has become reverse discrimination, ever heard " the road to hell is often paved with good intentions"?

There is no debating a one trick pony such as yourself, unless you can atleast admit it is possible that Jackson as a human with flaws and a drive for prestige, power, and money used Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As a stepping stone and that there is plenty circumstantial and undeniable evidence because of how he built and turned Rainbow PUSH into an extortion rackett and much more.

I'm not arguing with a drone. It's a waste of time, and besides... I know every hand you're going to pull. Toying with a Psuedo-intellectual such as yourself is all its worth. Let's see you ATLEAST admit it's POSSIBLE, that Jesse Jackson is a and always was a selfish cunniver.

Everything is great here, how about you?

How is Rockwell a "neoconfederate"? The person who wrote that article that I referenced was Marcus Epstein.
This article on his site seems to go against what you are stating:

Jesse Jackson is a con artist, but your statement was about people at the time of King or before. Jackson was there calling for reparations. Does he get a pass for 1968?

Ever heard "Payback is a bitch"?

I don't care if white owned businesses are so stupid that they fall for Jackson's "boycott" threat.
